Small Capsules, Vials, Etc? Looking for Bits...

Hey B&C! I'm hoping that someone may have an idea as to where I could find, or even just start to look for, a rather specific kind of accessory bit that I'm thinking of adding to an upcoming project I'm planning.

 

What I'm looking for is something that looks like a capsule or a vial, or a urn even of some sort. Ideally it would be something that I could model to be attached to a Primaris Space Marine's belt or backpack, as a way to represent each marine carrying the ashes of a previously fallen brother. (Planning a homebrew chapter with the new starter, I'm pumped.) This small little accessory would go a long way in unifying the force around a central theme and adding to their character. Please let me know if you have any ideas for bits that I could get to help show this!!

Try Dark Eldar bits.  Plenty of vials, syringes, etc. in the Wrack kit or the Talos/Chronos kit.

You might want to have a look at some beads - these would be ideal to represent capsules and urns, and are pretty cheap to buy.

 

I'm certain that there are bead/accessory/hobby shops that sell these (or try online somewhere like eBay or Amazon), and you should be able to get just the style and size you want.

 

Of course, you may need to use a little bit of putty or sprue to close up the holes at either end, but that's easy can would anyway help to reinforce the "capsule" look.

 

Another thing to try might be trimming down some Melta Bombs - you always get leftovers in kits and they are pretty big. Shaving them down a bit and maybe adding some decorative bits (skulls shaved off from the sides of spare bolters maybe?) could be an easy and cheap way to make a few.

 

If you are after smaller vials, the Blood Angels Tactical kit might be worth a look too. They have plenty of small test tube shaped vials scattered across the model components, and you may be able to use the parts as-is (or by shaving down/off the BA insignia if relevant).

 

Lastly, the Dark Angels Veterans sprue might be worth a look as well. There are lots of vials and censor bits on it that would work well, and there's even a backback with a little built-in shrine on the back. The sprue is showing it's age now (it was released early during 4th Edition), but the components are still surprisingly useful. Example of vials and shrine backpack.

In addition there is an urn-like vessel in the right leg of Drycha Hamadreth that it may be possible to aquire from a bits selling service. It's stretching the limits of "small" though, it might look okay on a vehicle or larger model.

The kroot carnivores sprue has a handful of small sashes with a mix of knives, bones and small capsule/vial-like objects. Some are meant to be ammo for their rifles but not all, and they still look the part. I used one on my wolf priest to represent some healing balms and miscellaneous medical stuff. The knives might look a little feral but the bones could also work as miniature reliquaries.

Thank you all for your guidance! I think the bead idea may work quite well, thank you Major Gilbear! That extensive answer was really helpful. I'd go for those Dark Angel bits, but the site you linked to was sold out and I can't find them elsewhere. Plus, the beads are most likely a cheaper option.
