Plasticard tube size for legs?

Recommended Posts

Why not save yourself a step and avoid greenstuff completely; add a shim of sheet plastic, but cut it down to a little large then the leg diameter, glue it in place and then simple file it back excess material to the original surface. Results will be seamless, and it doesn't matter how clean the starting shape is as long as it's reasonably close to the leg form.

Thing with rod is that you'll need to slice each disk off to a rather exact thickness, and still need to contend with doing some kind of final shaping to get the shim seamless. With sheet as the starting material, it's all the same thickness, but you just have to shape it some. But even with rod you'll need to shape it, so you're not saving much effort.

Sheet and not rod.  Sheet will always be flat on both sides.  Rod is only as straight as your cuts, and getting both edges perfectly parallel is perhaps unlikely.

Agree with the oversized sheet and trim the excess, but probably gap filling with GS or Tamiya White putty or similar may still be necessary.
