Painting 30k World Eaters red?

Recommended Posts

I love the World Eaters fluff, but the white and blue colour scheme looks like Tesco value bags of crisps from the 1990s.

Have you ever seen late Heresy-era World Eaters painted in their 40k scheme of red and brass? Do you think it could work?

If I'd done World Eaters for the tabletop, they'd totally have been red before Terra. We mused over this, about when exactly they'd change, and wanted to keep it nebulous between individual warbands, but the rough guide we used was "The more wargear resupplies you're getting from Sarum, the redder and more Khornate you get."

I've been thinking of doing a WE army in that awesome red and white colour scheme. I do think however that the red and brass colour scheme from 40k looks too much like HH Tsons and they adapted those colours after the Heresy. Just my opinion and I could be wrong.

My friend did something awesome for red world eaters.

Basically they would get red painted armour parts from the feet up to denote the amount of enemy blood they waded in.  some bast the graves, others the waist until on the most hardened had red everything.  It was how he subtly "changed" the tones from loyalist to chaos.

Yes Im totally going to splatter my guys in blood using the ol' toothbrush technique.

Quick question on the retribution red and white pattern. Does the backpack also get painted red? The jump pack in the illustration looks white, but then the normal guys have blue backpacks.

It's kinda hard to offer a counterpoint here, especially since the author I basically consider to be the father of the World Eaters as a narratively compelling legion in the 30k setting has already offered his point of view (cheers A-D-B, by the way, huge fan!), but as a massive World Eaters aficionado in both settings, I do rather enjoy the white and blue scheme for how different it is from the 30k red and brass, and FW's way of merely introducing red to replace the blue just doesn't seem satisfying to me.

Increasing the amount of blood spatter and spiky, vaguely Khornate parts just seems like the more organic solution -- that's just my two cents, though...

He also wrote red WE in MoM.
