Micah's Imperium army for 8th

Got all my rhino chassis base coated in red to match the other one. Two have had their washes applied. I also got the first Valkyrie almost assembled all the way. Couple of issues with it. I got them for a good price but they didn't come with flight stands or the cockpit glass. Cockpit glass I'm not too worried about, I'll probably just use some plastic card and make it opaque, but does anyone know a good way to make a large flight stand?

Just ordered a second set of Warzone Mutant Chronicles 2nd edition for more guardsmen. I really like the imperial models but I can't find a way to include the Imperial and Bauhaus in the same army. So now I'll have 60 of each, and the Bauhaus can be the start of a Chaos cultist army.

Did some work on my first Valkyrie. It came without the cockpit canopy so I glued the frames to clear plastic and cut them out. I then used green stuff to make it all fit together. Didn't work great but it's okay I guess.

 

Started painting it. The green is zenithal highlighted with four colors, and the panel lines were pre shaded with transparent violet. I could not install the heavy bolters correctly if my life depended on it, so I gave up and mounted them on either side of the cockpit. The rockets, lascannon, and multi laser are magnetized so I can eventually make this a vendetta as well.

My "Preorder" from GW finally arrived a week after it was available in my local store. Yeah, I'm never "preordering" direct from GW again. Anyway, I got 10 more scions and a commissar assembled, I have the second Taurox assembled except for the tracks. It went a lot faster without having to look at every step in the directions.

 

For Scions, I have 4 with plasma guns that will be the command squad. They are modeled with all the special command squad equipment mostly for looks since they are not legal loadouts with the plasma guns. So I have a standard bearer, a guy with Vox, and a guy with the medpack; all holding the plasma gun in their right hand. All my command squad have beret heads with face masks on. Berets are all painted red.

 

My tempestor prime has a beret head with his face showing, Beret will be painted red.

 

I have 2 squads of 5 scions each with dual melta guns. Every guy has a masked head. Finally there is 1 squad with dual Hotshot Volleyguns. I want to use the 4 leftover grenade launchers and flamers for my infantry squads.

 

I've got a WIP quad launcher I scratchbuilt that is detailed in another thread; and I plan on scratchbuilding 3 earthshaker batteries as well. They seem pretty good for 80 points. I used to be an artilleryman once upon a time in real life so the idea of making a guard artillery battery has always fascinated me. What annoys me is that a standard US battery is between 4 and 6 guns; but is almost always 4. Batteries in game top out at 3, so I'll actually have to run 2 units of 2 if I want a full battery.

Just ordered some parts to make shooty things. I've got two sizes of wooden dowels coming, one slightly thinner than the other. With some creative drill work I think I can make a lot of lascannon barrels. I've also ordered some 32mm tall Lego wagon wheels for some DKOK style artillery emplacements. They were relatively cheap at $2 for 4.
