So last edition you could only kill what was in range. Now this edition it allows the player to remove whichever models they wish (even if out of range or sight).

But say I had a bunch of pistols, or flamers. But they could only reach 1 or 2 enemy models in the squad, and say I caused something crazy like 50 wounds. Will those wounds carry over?

Or will the enemy make saves for the only guys in range?

By the sound of it, they carry over because the premise is already there, and could essentially kill a long conga line 20" away with an 8" flamer...

Which doesn't sit right with me if I'm not missing something.

Unchained as promised.

See core rule three, step 4, sub-step 3 on pg 181 of the rulebook, parenthetical text about allocating wounds to any member of the unit, expressly including those out of range or line of sight. Indeed, if a previously injured model is out or range or sight the rules later compel you to assign the wound to that model.

If it helps your imagination any, you might think of the weapon ranges as doctrinal engagement ranges and the basis of training, but, as in real life, the projectiles can carry further with lethal force, if much less accuracy. Might not be a problem if you're firing into a mob of orks? Also, there's a bit of fuzziness about the positions of models, we can't imagine your marines as statically on the field as your models are on the table top.
