I agree Skimask. I think it may be something to do with Chaos marines and the old legion colour scheme. Chaos marines are much busier models, and the Death Guard colour scheme is busy in and of itself. It makes painting the minis are slightly more difficult task.

Anyhoo! :biggrin.:

Nearly done!

I'm really liking the marine. I think the old sculpt is the culprit for sure; meticulous edge highlighting like yours gets a bit overwhelming with all the ridges and details on typhus. Also i think the lack of purple and brown (at least for now) helps

Thanks man. :)

I wanted to try and recreate the banner below…

…Into his cloak thing on this guys back.

Not sure how well it goes across on the model. But I wanted him to have a memento from the Heresy. Harking back to his “glory days”.

Gotta admit, I'm a bit on the edge for the cloak. At first I like the idea of it being a memento of the heresy, but I feel the colours blend a lot with the armour and shoulder pads.

The paintjob is good, the skull could maybe benefit from smaller eyes and nose, but otherwise the freehand is good.

I'm the same Magnus. Exact same reasons too. Gonna dirty it up a little, and probably leave it. The skull looks the way it is as it's an old joke amongst friends and fans of a certain webcomic. To say it's a little "inside baseball" would be an understatement! :D

I don't think I will be painting any Poxwalkers. If I am honest I need to take a step back after this guy, and prioritise what I want to paint. I really want to go back to both my Thousand Sons and Word Bearers. 8th edition has really got my pumped for the game and my older forces! :D

When Mortarion hits I will deffo be working on him. I dont think i'll be able to resist! So not totally stopping on him.

And I would say I spent an afternoon on Typhus, and aout 2 days on the most recent fella. :D

Well, I may take some slightly better photos later on, but this guy is finished!

Not sure what to do next. I have a few armies on the boil at the moment and it's really distracting!

Phenomenal as always and the simpler base really helps over Typhus, the barrel is great but his rock is very old school with the blue grey you almost need a goblin green rim to fit into the 90s style. But it doesn't work so well with a model that's painted to a great modern standard and I feel is a bit disjointed.

I wouldn't have a the whole unit with bases that plain a few little details like small leaky pipes or the odd pool of goo would probably be enough.

Weathered down the Cape really works well and the marine is fantastic.

Changing the colours up for the rocks would make a sizable difference. You can use pailer greys less blue and then weather them and drybrush yellow to give a worn stained rocky effect with lichen growing which would suit the modern paint job.

Thanks Corswain! I'm happy with how it turned out, I like the fact he has kept it, maybe a small part of him regrets his current state, and it's a reminder of the glory days! :D

And I think I'll end up totally redoing the base for Typhus. Although there could be a new one on the way if Mortarion is arriving. In which case I'll just ignore the old one! :D
