I'm in the process of hammering out a Carcharodons force and have run into a problem, What color do you recommend for the trim? I've tested Vallejo Game color bright bronze and Army Painter rough iron (which ironically is a really dark bronze). The pictures from the badab war books have them in a opaque yellowish gold. Any ideas?

By now, I do all my gold or bronze by basing from leadbelcher shaded up to storm host silver, then a sepia wash (ink or citadel), then one or more of layers of Casandora Yellow shade. I thin further as needed, and depending on the number of thin layers of inks and shades in what colors, you can achieve pretty much anything from a bronze color to a bright yellow gold. For very bright highlights, you may need to reapply highlights of silver as you go to keep them less tinted. If I really want it to pop once it's done, a further very thin glaze of dark sepia ink to apply gloss and hit the recesses again can finish as long as I thin it enough.

It can take a good bit of experimentation to iron out the recipe that works for you, but it's a really convenient and versatile system once you get the hang of it, and doing some tests should let you figure out the exact shade you want. :)

The Badab pictures look a sort of bronze-ish. I did some digital editing and color match says the closest paint to it from GW is somewhere between Sycorax Bronze and Balthasar Gold, leaning towards Sycorax. However, GW's photos of their paints are brighter than in real life, and they use a digital color swatch which is what I was comparing. In real life, Sycorax Bronze is way too goldish and yellow, so I hit it with Agrax Earthshade and get pretty close to the bronze in the book.

I think any yellow colored metallic will look good, since the army is just monotone grey, black, and white. I see most Carcharodons players choose gold or no metallic.
