Lokastus Grimm
Hi guys, Just a quick question. I'm considering starting some Crimson Fists for when 8th edition really hits (I.e. When the codexes come out) and was looking at working out how best to paint them. I really like the old viva Metallica style of inking silver with blue ink, but I can't decide what blue to use. I don't know whether to just use Drakenhof Nightshade ink, or to try the Forgeworld clear blue that I had recently acquired. Does anyone have a picture of what both would look like so I can compare? Many thanks! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/334769-best-metallic-blue-for-crimson-fists/ Share on other sites
d@n
if you have an airbrush then its easy. basecoat silver and then spray a clear blue. calth blue from forge world is dark and would work well for crimson fists Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/334769-best-metallic-blue-for-crimson-fists/#findComment-4784666 Share on other sites
Lokastus Grimm
Thanks d@n, I don't have an airbrush, would it still work ok if I brushed it on? Xenith
Leadbelcher base, runefang top layer, then 1 -2 unthinned coats of drakenhoff over the top I think gives a colour similar to crimson fists. You can check the alpha legion link in my signature to see. I did 2 coats of drakenhof, then a top coat of green shade to give the alphas the green tint. Probably closest colour is the greave on this guy. http://i279.photobucket.com/albums/kk141/Mechxen/Alpha%20Legion/Veteran%20Tactical%20I/2015-12-12%2018.39.15_zpsgzonkjg0.jpg Edited June 16, 2017 by Xenith Lokastus Grimm 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/334769-best-metallic-blue-for-crimson-fists/#findComment-4784824 Share on other sites
Aspecti
Also Vallejo Model Air Metallic Artic Blue works very well. It's pretty dark and you can use it just like any other paint, don't need an airbrush. Just prime black and brush on :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/334769-best-metallic-blue-for-crimson-fists/#findComment-4785004 Share on other sites
Razblood
Vallejo Model Color Gunmetal Blue is what I'd recommend, just shade it down with Nuln Oil gloss and you're sorted :tu: Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/334769-best-metallic-blue-for-crimson-fists/#findComment-4785138 Share on other sites
