Seahawk
Greetings! Looks like I have the privilege of starting one of the first threads in here. This will be showing off my Nekthyst Dynasty. I've only ever found one blurb about them from the 5th edition codex, but I really liked where it could lead. Basically, they're known as betrayers and are not trusted at all by other dynasties. That left the door open for the oddball units! So, here we go... Necron Lord Orikan the Diviner Destroyer Lord with the Solar Staff Bender (my Adepticon team was themed around Futurama characters, so he was a "counts-as Illuminor Szeras", hence the laser pistol) Roberto (used as a Flayed One) Flayed Ones (I figured they'd be attracted to the fighting; plus they were really freaking good in 7th) Deathmarks (I knew my dynasty wasn't too good to hire assassins, so they did) Praetorians Warriors Immortals Destroyers Heavy Destroyer conversion I think this is my favorite because it was so fun to light up. As I paint more I'll post pics in here to continue the thread. Dosjetka
The images are pretty big. Any chance you could resize them? That aside, those are some good-looking Necrons. :tu: Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/334918-seahawks-nekthyst-dynasty/#findComment-4787152 Share on other sites
shandwen
I love the futurama counts-as, somewhat of a perfect fit. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/334918-seahawks-nekthyst-dynasty/#findComment-4787170 Share on other sites
Captain_Krash
Seriously love this Necron army. What color scheme did you use to get this effect? Seahawk
Hmm, the board doesn't auto-resize them anymore? Yea, I can reduce. To achieve the Nekthyst dynasty colors is a simple thing. - Black primer - Rustoleum Camouflage earth brown zenithal spray - Army Painter Warpaints Dark Tone wash - GW Shining Gold light drybrush - GW Burnished Gold highlight drybrush That's for the majority of them at least. The characters have more fine stages. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/334918-seahawks-nekthyst-dynasty/#findComment-4787363 Share on other sites
Tyriks
Very nice looking! I find it hard to get metals to look this gritty and still look like metal but you've pulled it off. Seahawk
With metals, the key is drybrushing. Make your base layer, then drybrush the rest, and it'll come out quite realistic in my experience. Prot
Very nice. And I love futurama/ bender so even better! Love the bases too. They might be simple but they just plain work. All the differently colored dudes are second hand (as are two of the monoliths) and I haven't yet repainted them. Bjorn Firewalker
Good job. I like the three-legged Heavy Destroyer and Bender. Why did you make them bronze instead of gunmetal? To make them look "classy," like statues in a museum? Seahawk
They are painted that way because those are the colors of the Nekthyst Dynasty! "During the Necron Wars of Secession, the nobles of the Nekthyst Dynasty earned reputations as betrayers and traitors, a result of many broken alliances with other Necrontyr Dynasties. Though these events occurred long ago, the taint of dishonor still hangs over the Necrons of the Nekthyst Dynasty and they are fiercely distrusted and disliked by the Phaerons of the other dynasties." Seahawk
Thanks! I couldn't bring myself to get the failcrap ones for bunches of monies, and they were stuck in monopose. These I was able to adjust the claws enough to get variation at least. Acquiring them wasn't easy...ha.
