Played my first 8th game against a full 2k point of Imp guard running Krom as my warlord.

Popped him into my land raider crusader along with a pack of wulfen as it pushed forward mopping down guardsmen left and right.  Re-rolls of one was handy when your firing 12 shots of hurricane bolter and assault cannon.

Granted, he no longer can re roll his saves when next to objectives, no longer stubborn or grants furious charge and pretty much operates like a standard wolf lord.

Yet his Fierce eye ability helps for those pesky hordes when you want to make sure they have a harder time passing a morale test.  And wyrmclaw isn't shabby when it comes to cleaving apart chimeras with that -2 rend.

My only complaint is that he doesn't share his lead 9 like wolf priests do. If he could then he'd stand out more and probably would be used often.

Still, I think I might go back to my standard great wolf or utilize one with a plasma pistol for more serious games.

But for casual play he's pretty solid.

there was a little discussion in my local group today.

Under the rules for transports, pahe 183: "Embarked units cannot normally do anything or be affected in any way whilst they are embarked. Unless specifically stated abilities that affect other units within a certain range have no effect whilst the unit has the ability is embarked.

Which sadly means, no buffing from Krom on your raider, or the wulven buffing other units while embarked. That said, i do like you enjoyed Krom. He is quite a decent character, and i was wondering about his Fierce Eyes ability effectivness, so good to see that works :)

huh that's an eye opener. Well it was a test game for both of us so I'm glad to know that now.

Indeed. It was like coming back to something familiar and yet a little different.  While Krom is no longer the bad ass monster slayer he was back in 7th, his fierce eye ability would work if he was paired with a group of Blood claws or wulfen or thunder wolves as they would take the most advantage.
