Recently someone on FB posted an Inceptor with a 'visor' - it was a trimmed-to-fit shoulder pad. :happy.:

Any chance you could Facestalk that picture for me

You're lucky I'm free today - I very nearly gave up looking before I found it:

You sir are a scholar and a gentleman. Thank you! Looks perfect!
Conversely, I think the idea is completely ridiculous: why would you need a head enclosure if your helmet is made of the same material as your armor and your armor can already survive re-entry? If you aren't worried about things piercing your armor, then why would you worry about the same for your helm?

It would be useful to have a blast shield to protect sensitive optics or shield the vulnerable head from debris on re-entry. The Gravis helmet doesn't look that much more armored than the non-Gravis armor, and they are already wearing Gravis because the non-Gravis armor isn't tough enough.

While I agree on the fact that the standard helmet should be fine for orbital jumps, this is an aesthetics thing. I prefer the look of the shield and I think the marine inside isn't wearing a helmet

I'd agree if we didn't already have an example of a helm that lacks a blast shield that goes in what is very likely a much more harsh and damaging environment than re-entry - the Terminator helm was supposed to be survivable inside a plasma reactor's core. The Gravis helm looks to have at least the heft of a Terminator helm. Even if the Terminator helm was more survivable just due to the power field in the Terminator armor, something similar could have been built into the Inceptor suits over 10 millennia.

The blast shield isn't a requirement for this and looks more ridiculous than other solutions.

Oh definitely, and if you like it, you should definitely go for it!

 But is he going to fight with the blast shield down after landing? If so, what's protecting his head without a helm? Fighting without a helm on a battlefield with rocket propelled grenades as the basic armament? Heresy!!! Edited by Bryan Blaire

I was toying with this idea but not a fan of painting it as a glass visor. You could justify it if it was to accommodate tendril sensors or perhaps some additional protection against some sort of close combat monsters that use scything talons. He could be bareheaded underneath but the surface projects the images directly into the brain like with regular marine lenses.

For me personally it's not so much justifying it's purpose over how it looks once painted, I'd be tempted to do that but add some camera lenses or something.

I think that would look very Scopedog
