Curious if we have any true-scale wolf players here. With the primaris marines im like 90% sure i want to upscale my Wolves, basically true scaling them.

Have people in the past attempted true scaled bikes, and/or Thunderwolves? That last bit of hesitation comes from the amount of work that would be needed for those units. I have ideas that get me jazzed up about basically everything else though.

Ideas?

Thought: Freki and Geri (from Forge World) are bigger than average Thunderwolves and wouldn't look out of place with Primaris sized marines riding on them.

Also Harald Deathwolf and his wolf are bigger than an average thunderwolf and marine. I don't have any Primaris to compare against, but he compares. You could use him to round out a squad of Freki + Geri with Primaris sized rider.

SW1 has converted thunderwolves to make them bigger (at least wider): http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/topic/316322-sw1s-hh-wolves-wolf-kin-conversion/page-2

I've had a play around with the TWC and worked out why I hate the models so much. They're whip thin and look more like Rats than big Wolves as can be seen in the pic below:

The far right one has been bluetac'd together while the other 2 have had a chunk of sprue slapped in the joint at the back of their heads. I think this helps really bulk up the look of them.

Next up it's time to try and widen the body. I was a bit nervous of messing this up but I think it's done ok:

While taking the pics I thought about adding spacers to the shoulders as well. I tried it with bluetac (which is quickly becoming my biggest handy hobby tool) and liked how it looked. The whole model I'm hoping is moving out of the mount look and firmly into the proper carnivore look.

In the end I just went with my gut.

I've now started the slow process of gs'ing the model which I'm really happy with. First model I've actually stopped before getting my prints all over the gs. Not sure why but I started on the lower back:

My last pic for the night is a bit scrappy in quality but I think helps show the size of the models:

Small axes from the Dwarf Ironbreaker kit have been added to belt loops, emphasising the Fenrisian aesthetic without the need for extravagant wolf iconography or pelts.

Hmm very nice, that's something to look into

Check out this guy has modified the new Primaris to make Space Wolves.  Very impressive, if you've got the skills.

Yea those are nice! I'm 100% not concerned with making regular marines, the bajillion ideas i have for these are the driving force. Now its mostly the bikes issue, but i don't really use bikes ever other than WP/RP on a bike so i don't know why i'm stressing over it.

I don't have any primaris to know how they work with this, but I thought the thunderwolves were a bit delicate-looking to have a 3+ save and carry around guys in power armor that weighs as much as a forklift... so I converted them from juggernauts to get sort of armored thunderwolves. That might work? I imagine that you guys are better than I am at this and can make them look better, this was pretty minimal in the greenstuff skills department.
