grimsanity
i played a game tonight and me and the other player had a disagreement how act of faith worked. i just need clarification on how it works. example 2- 5 man sister squads and a seraphim squad. all 3 have act of faith. can all 3 take the 2+ act of faith roll or just 1. the codex says "on a roll of a 2+ one unit from your army with act of faith can perform and act of faith". i interpret it as as long as the unit has act of faith they can roll ( so all 3 can roll to use an act of faith). the other player disagreed and said only 1 of them can use it (in his words because the way i interpret it makes the game broken) so can anyone help clear this up. HenricusTyranicus
He was right. That's why Celestine and Imagefiers are helpful, because it means more acts of faith. Sir_Gaea
Right, the generic (as I call it) AoF on the 2+ is one faith point. Celestine hands out an AoF to any Adepta Sororitas unit within 6". The Imagifier (Really GW? Where does this name come from?), on a 4+ allows a friendly unit from the same order to perform an AoF. A.T.
The Imagifier (Really GW? Where does this name come from?) IIRC the term was first used in the 2002 chapter approved army. It's a shortening of imaginifer - a roman title for the soldier whose job it was to carry the image of the Emperor. Montford
Essentially you receive one Act of Faith from each 'source' each turn. You get one from Celestine (if you have her in your army) which works automatically on any friendly Adepta Sororitas within 6", you get one on a 2+ from being Adeptus Ministorum (although this one only works on units with the Act of Faith ability), and you get one which works on a 4+ from each Imagnifer in your Army on a unit within 6" as long as it is in the same Adpeta Sororoitas <ORDER> as the Imagnifer. So each 'source' has slightly different rules when granting an Act of Faith. -Celestine's works on any friendly Adepta Sororitas regardless of <Order> (6" range) No roll required -Adeptus Ministorum works on any unit with the Act of Faith ability (board wide) Works on 2+ -Imagnifer works on any friendly <Order> unit (6" range) Works on 4+ Each 'source' grants one attempt per turn, at the beginning of your turn. For example, if your Army includes Celestine and 3 Imagnifers, then at the beginning of your turn you may attempt 5 Acts of Faith. If your roll fails then that Act attempt does not happen. I do this by declaring which 'source' I are using, which Act of Faith I am attempting, and which Unit will be affected. "Celestine grants a Pile-in to the Repentia in melee with your Scout Snipers" I immediately resolve a fight phase attack. "Army-wide, free move with this Seraphim Squad" I roll a die, get a 3, and immediately move the Seraphim up to 12". "This Imagnifer, attempting Shooting with this Retributor squad" Roll a 3, fail. Nothing happens. "This other Imganifer, attempting a Shooting with this Exorcist" Roll a 5, succeed, and immediately fire the Exorcist at a target. "My last Imagnifer, attempting to heal Celestine", Roll a 4, succeed, rolls a 4 on D3 and heals 2 wounds on Celestine. RedSquig
Because of language nuances when describing the skill. Sanul
Because of language nuances when describing the skill. Maybe she is not a friend of herself In the rulebook there is a phrase somewhere that aura effects always including the source model, so yes, she can. Maybe she is not a friend of herself In the rulebook there is a phrase somewhere that aura effects always including the source model, so yes, she can. That, combined with the fact she has the Adepta Sororitas keyword, is why I think she can use it on herself. sedibear
Do note that you cant use the Imagifier AoF on Celestine because she doesn't have the <ORDER> keyword Also that Crusaders have AoF now. A.T.
Also that Crusaders have AoF now. Huzzah! Non-AoF units can also get in on the act a little via transports - throwing units up the board with a pre-move. After all nobody is expecting a squad of death cultists 30+" away embarked in a rhino to be assaulting them. sedibear 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/335318-act-of-faith-question/#findComment-4792287 Share on other sites
