Are Verlo
Just have to throw this out here: I´ve never had such a good time brainstorming and tinkering with my Imperial Guard. We have so many viable options at the moment. Then some static infantry tactics: many wepon teams (looking at steel legion in particular) have very low models and LOS might actually be a problem. The heavy bolter dudes cant see or be seen from behind a aegis defence line, so why not put them in a bastion. It provides a durable bunker (T9 20W and a 3+). No longer will the weapon teams be insta-squashed by almost any penetrating hits (most of them did 2d6 hits @S6...). If you have weapon teams with mortars, they can hide behind the bastion as well. Speaking of weapon teams: a weapon team is 4 pts and a mortar is 5. 27 points for a full squad of 3...... crazy Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/335349-infantry-squads-in-8th/page/3/#findComment-4799885 Share on other sites
Sawtooth
Speaking of bayonets. If I have Catachan conscripts, with a ministorum priest and Iron Hand Straken nearby, do they in fact get +2 attacks? lash144
Speaking of bayonets. If I have Catachan conscripts, with a ministorum priest and Iron Hand Straken nearby, do they in fact get +2 attacks? Yes they do. Throw in an Officer for Fix Bayonets and you got nice melee force :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/335349-infantry-squads-in-8th/page/3/#findComment-4800346 Share on other sites
Withershadow
Straken is already an officer, so that's handled. :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/335349-infantry-squads-in-8th/page/3/#findComment-4800624 Share on other sites
Gen.Steiner
Do you really want 150 WS5+ attacks? Then yes, that's a good plan for 50 Conscripts. NatBrannigan
I'd run that just to see the look on my opponents face when I get out my sack of 150 dice ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/335349-infantry-squads-in-8th/page/3/#findComment-4800808 Share on other sites
Altasmurf
The thing with Straken, is he specifies all models in a friendly unit within 6" gets the bonus. All other buffs are written as all units within 6". (Just look at Harker below). So I'm curious if Straken's bubble is individual models, because that would be a kick in the junk. Gen.Steiner
Nah, because it's a clumsily worded version of "All units within".All models in a friendly unit is, well, all models. All of them. If you have 50 conscripts strung out in a long line, each 2" apart from the other so only two models are within 6" of Straken......all 50 Conscripts benefit, because they are in that friendly unit which is within 6" of Straken. Altasmurf
I agree it's terribly worded and I see it as you do. But why be dumb enough to write it that way when nothing else specifies models. But I can see with how it's written that both items, friendly unit and models, are both inclusive requirements. Once again frustrated that we even see this issue. Gen.Steiner
The important part is "friendly unit within 6"" specifies the range of the aura; "all models in" tells you who or what is affected by the aura.So the aura affects all friendly units within 6" of Straken, and all models in those units benefit as a result. Beams
Do you really want 150 WS5+ attacks? Then yes, that's a good plan for 50 Conscripts. That's still about 50 hits, and that's after you just shot 200 lasguns at whatever your shooting at. Gen.Steiner
Yeah, I mean, who wouldn't want 150 attacks? :P I wasn't saying it was a bad idea :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/335349-infantry-squads-in-8th/page/3/#findComment-4803033 Share on other sites
