Just have to throw this out here: I´ve never had such a good time brainstorming and tinkering with my Imperial Guard. We have so many viable options at the moment.

Then some static infantry tactics: many wepon teams (looking at steel legion in particular) have very low models and LOS might actually be a problem. The heavy bolter dudes cant see or be seen from behind a aegis defence line, so why not put them in a bastion. It provides a durable bunker (T9 20W and a 3+). No longer will the weapon teams be insta-squashed by almost any penetrating hits (most of them did 2d6 hits @S6...). If you have weapon teams with mortars, they can hide behind the bastion as well.

Speaking of weapon teams: a weapon team is 4 pts and a mortar is 5. 27 points for a full squad of 3...... crazy

The thing with Straken, is he specifies all models in a friendly unit within 6" gets the bonus. All other buffs are written as all units within 6". (Just look at Harker below). So I'm curious if Straken's bubble is individual models, because that would be a kick in the junk.

Nah, because it's a clumsily worded version of "All units within".

All models in a friendly unit is, well, all models. All of them. If you have 50 conscripts strung out in a long line, each 2" apart from the other so only two models are within 6" of Straken...

...all 50 Conscripts benefit, because they are in that friendly unit which is within 6" of Straken.

I agree it's terribly worded and I see it as you do. But why be dumb enough to write it that way when nothing else specifies models. But I can see with how it's written that both items, friendly unit and models, are both inclusive requirements. Once again frustrated that we even see this issue.

The important part is "friendly unit within 6"" specifies the range of the aura; "all models in" tells you who or what is affected by the aura.

So the aura affects all friendly units within 6" of Straken, and all models in those units benefit as a result.
