I've wanted to do Eldar for years now. I saw their glass cannon magnificence playing marines against them in 3rd and had quit playing the game by the time I got around to buying more than a couple of a figures. In the years since I also picked up a good amount of DEldar primarily because the models looked so damn good. Then came the Doom of Mymeara and the Corsairs list which allowed a blending of both.

Now that I'm wanting to get back into the game, I don't know which one to choose. I've loved the Saim-Hann paint scheme for years, but now all of my old jetbikes are just that - old and very much showing their age against the newer, sleeker, (non-space Harley) crotch rocket models. I also started on a DEldar kabal of my own making a while back but it didn't go very far. And as much as I hate to give up the idea of Saim-Hann, ever since I read the Mymeara book, my mind keeps coming back to the idea of Corsairs, especially with the Sunblitz Brotherhood scheme.

I'd love to hear some opinions, pros/cons, etc, about why you chose one of the above paths and why you would suggest it for me.

Thanks, brothers.

Right now, I'm playing with craftworld eldar and dabbling with Ynarri.  The corsairs have a tremendous amount of appeal for me as well. and depending on what forgeworld does with their units/army I will be making a contingent of them to supplement the rest of my eldar.

Honestly, go with your heart.  If it's telling you to embrace your inner space pirate and paint everything Sunblitz-- then go for it.  Besides that paint scheme kicks serious butt,

A Corsair faction, mixing Dark Eldar and Craftworld exiles/travellers. Make one or two main characters, maybe each leading one of the eldar factions, and you can have a full army with the same color scheme.

My logic is that Duke Slicus was basically an eldar pirate, and we also have Prince Yriel as an example of them, considering how much DE and Eldar ally, I see no reason why two mercenary bands fuse into one. Personally, that gives an awesome chances for:

-Conflict between the leaders of each eldar faction.

-Same color scheme for both of them.

-The chance to play any of the eldar models.

I also like the idea of both of them uniting out of a need for survival. Maybe their craftworld died, and now the Eldar fleet is the only thing they have left (explaining how they have many of the Eldar units), and the Dark Eldar could be exiles, or just united with their cousins for some other reasons.

Seriously, same color scheme for everyone can work wonders, specially for 8th edition that allows you to play Eldar/Dark Eldar/Harlequin mixed lists.

Why choose? We have Eldar United under the Ynnari Banner simply pick your favorites from either faction add one of the triumvirate and there ya go! The Ynnari are making my 5th edition dreams finally come true . I really liked the concept of a wyche cult allied w/ the Poisoned Toungue kabal (cuz Lady Malys!) and now here it is plus the option to incorporate some of my favorite Eldar(sorry puked a bit in me mouth!) Units namely Dark Reapers,Rangers ,Khaine ..So much winning! It seemed contrary at first in 7th Ed w/ the Eldar +Dark Eldar allying w/each other then once I considered that Sure the point eared space haters would rather hang w/their degenerate cousins than inferior Monkeigh rabble !

But as to the original topic I prefer the Dark Eldar over the craft world Nancies .The DE are a double scoop of Grimdark w/ a gag ball on top while those other guys seem like they shoe horned in some Fantasy elves cuz ..well just cuz . I mean Eldar rules wise are the beesknees but just always seemed out of place in the 40k setting.
