8E Vehicle Weapons and Arcs, plus LOS

I don't have the new rule book yet, just the Primer, but it seems like weapon arcs are gone this edition? The primer says you measure from base to base or use the hull if no base exists... do the "advanced" rules go into arcs and whatnot, or is it as loosey-goosey as it seems?

 

In a related note, LOS is required to shoot something, but a model only ignores models in its own unit for shooting. That implies to me that you can effectively preveny your own units from shooting of you're not leaving gaps for therm to fire through, correct?

No arcs what so ever just need to be able to draw a line to the model shooting to the model being shot at.

 

And you are correct a unit ignores others within there unit for shooting/line of sight. But if you have another unit in front of that unit unless you spaced it properly then the unit behind cannot shoot past the unit which is blocking it's line of sight.
