Here's my new Emperor's Champion that I made for the Blood and Zeal challenge. I can't wait to paint this badass! Converting him was a nightmare but I'm very happy with the result.

And here he is all primed with his new Marshall buddy and a jump chaplain.

Is that a Primaris Emperor's Champion? He looks great!

Thanks! Pretty much yeah. I sorta half true-scaled my whole army so Primaris marines don't stand out that much anyway. He could fit as either in my army.

Here's something a bit different. IRL I'm a 3D animator. I've been really inspired by Helsreach, Lord Inquisitor, Death of Hope, Fortress Monastery, and all the other 3D fan films. So I've decided to make one myself. It'll be super short and a very drawn out process. But here are a couple test images so far...

Awesome looking models.

Need a voice actor?

Can you sound like Mark Strong? Haha

I like the last one, an adaptation of Guilliman i guess? :P

" I March for macragge!"
Considering where this is posted, let's have a Black Templars officer inspire the Ultramarines with such zeal, Guilliman's sons join his crusade.

"Macragge marches for me!"

Made some standard terminators with assault cannon for the +Blood and Zeal+ challenge.

I've been writing fluff too so I'll post that as soon as I nail it all down.

Has anyone here ever tried to create minis for those red-robed monks/servitors that are carrying the relics on the cover of our +HOLY TOME+ (black templars codex)?

I think I want to kitbash some cenobytes and make them look like those guys, carrying the body and wargear of a fallen chapter hero. I'm going to use some hunched over skaven bodies, admech heads, and the banner from a lord relictor laid on it's back as the coffin. I figure the skaven are so small that I can put two of them on a single base so it'll look like a crowd of servitors holding wargear but legally, it'll be just 3 models.

What do you guys think?

Interesting idea. However, how will you overcome the skaven snouts?

I found some skaven without heads at all so I'll just glue thsoe hooded admech heads right on there. I'm more worried about the feet. I might have to just cut them off and pretend they're under the robes.

Finally had some time today to try out my idea for Cenobyte Servitors. In my crusade, the cenobytes carry the body and wargear of our fallen Marshall Gerhardt. They chant hymns and burn incense to remind the initiates around them to live up to their fallen Marshall's example. My bits box didn't disappoint and they turned out much better than I hoped. I really wanted to recreate the feel of the crowd of hooded monks from the cover of our codex. They ended up decidedly more "blanche-y" than expected but I'm ok with that. I tried to use two servitors per base to boost their numbers while keeping it to 3 bases. The one with the little guy hanging way off the base, carrying the front of the coffin was supposed to be on a base but I realized that if I wanted to maximize their aura, I should keep them spread out to the limits of coherency. So I made him part of the same model as the two holding the back of the coffin and threw together a 3rd guy (the tall one holding the shield.) I know in a tournament, that kind of nonsense probably wouldn't be allowed, but I'm hoping in a friendly match, everyone would understand that I'll only measure their aura from the black bases. ANYWAY! Tell me what you think!

+ + + + + + + + + THOUGHT:  "All men are loyal. It is the object of their loyalty for which they are judged."

Greetings Master Valac,

I have news regarding my investigation into reported heretical beliefs among the Black Templars who have been observed in the Calixis Sector. They are operating from a single strike cruiser with the designation 'Volsung.' I have embedded my retinue among their crusade, and through fighting along side them, have gained a degree of rapport and trust with Marshal Gerhardt. As you will remember, this group of Black Templars has been reported by elements of the Ecclesiarchy, to venerate their Emperor's Champions to a degree bordering on worship. And they have also been reported to regard their former Marshal Sigurd as a saint, a status which has not officially been conferred upon him by the Ecclesiarchy.

To accurately deliver my report, I must first recount a bit of the crusade's history as it was told to me by their chaplains. In the year 999.M41, a Black Templars fleet was present in the Calixis sector, rooting out elements of a chaos worshiping cult which originated on Fenksworld and had begun to spread to the rest of the Josian Reach. The fleet was in orbit around a world in the subsector called Valais IV, and a detachment lead by Marshal Sigurd, his personal Chaplain, and the Emperor's Champion made planet fall. It was a show of force designed to intimidate the planetary governor into revealing the heretical elements that had infiltrated Valais IV's government. Hostilities broke out and after some months of campaigning, the grounds of the governor's palace were breached by the Black Templars' forces. Upon entering the palace, it was discovered that the building was being defended by a unit of heretic astartes from the Word Bearer's legion and the cult from Fenksworld evidently had been masterminded in secret by an as-yet-unknown Dark Apostle. The Black Templars had the Word Bearers outnumbered and surrounded and victory seemed inevitable.

It was at this time, many sectors away, that Cadia fell and the light of the Astronomicon went out. When the Great Rift tore across the galaxy, warpspawned abominations broke into real space all over the planet. A story which was repeated on countless worlds across the entire Imperium of Man. Word Bearers and daemonic horrors poured into the governor's palace lead by a foul Sorcerer of chaos. A battle ensued between that Sorcerer and the Emperor's Champion which was recounted to me in great detail. Details which I will spare you for the time being. What is important is that the Emperor's Champion fell that day. Marshall Sigurd and his Chaplain were grievously wounded while retrieving the body of the Champion and his Black Sword. Only a small fraction of the ground forces escaped to orbit, where they discovered that a Word Bearers fleet, lead by an ancient battlebarge called 'Voidgazer'  had translated into the system and overwhelmed the Black Templars' fleet. In the end, only one Black Templars ship survived, strike cruiser Volsung. Aboard the strike cruiser, only the crusade's 4th fighting company remained. Marshal Sigurd died of his wound and his personal Chaplain was interred in a dreadnought. Castellan Gerhardt was elevated to Marshal and immediately declared a crusade of vengeance against the Word Bearers of the 'Voidgazer.'

By this point you must be wondering what relevance any of this has to my investigation. As mentioned, it has been reported that this particular band of Black Templars seems to venerate their Emperor's Champions. When the Great Rift formed, the psychic shock killed all of the astropaths and navigators aboard the Volsung. The ship and its crew found themselves stranded and unable to navigate the warp safely. They have come to believe that their Emperor's Champion is able to guide them through the warp as they hunt for the Voidgazer. I have been aboard the Volsung for months and on many occasions we have plunged blindly into the warp, guided only by the Champion's visions- visions he believes he receives directly from the Emperor- only to emerge safely into real space. The destination is never planned. Rather, they have faith that the Emperor will deliver them where ever they are most needed. And only when they have proven themselves worthy of His favor through holy combat and the persecution of His enemies, will He finally guide them to the Voidgazer and the vengeance they so crave.

Thus, it is my assessment that the loyalty and faith of the Calixis Crusade remains true to the Emperor and that their observed behaviors, while unorthodox, are not heretical. However, even the strongest  zeal can become misguided in times of desperation, should the faithful lose focus. Therefore it is my formal request to remain aboard the Volsung indefinitely as an official attache of the Ordo Hereticus to keep a watchful eye on the Black Templars of the Calixis Crusade, so that their faith never becomes...misplaced.

In His Name,

Raum, Inquisitor - Ordo Hereticus.

ROGAL DORN RETURNS! As a Black Templar no less.

This is just a bit of fun. I tried to make him count as Guilliman but I'll still probably never run him. Anyway I wanted to model Dorn as a Black Templar. Maybe he returned to the galaxy to find the Imperium blinded by religion and superstition, and his brother Guilliman consorting with xenos witches and he sorta snapped. As a special little tidbit I made sure to give him a robotic hand (since his was cut off) and of course, the dad-stache.

How  have I been absent from this thread for so long? <totally shamed>

You have some amazing stuff going on. I loved the fluff and think you do know how to write. Very well in fact. Your terminators are very well done, but what really grabbed me is your  cenobytes. Brilliant idea!

And Dorn....

Play on good sir!
