Sume
Hello. I am considering starting a small force of Orks, that I will be expanding over the year. I really want to be able to paint something besides SoB for a bit, after a hard push I am doing. I am really intrigued by the forgeworld Squiggoths. I got the new index, where I feel that greater one be loads of fun. Overall, I would be better off running 2 or 3 of the little ones instead. I may end up with one of the big ones anyways. I just love how they look and to me they present a challenge to paint that I am looking forward to. I am torn between the clans of Blood Axes, and Snakebites. I was curious which one be more fluffy to run with the squigs. I figured Blood Axes, be trying to be cunning, and pull one over the enemy's eyes by trying to be sneaky and tricky by possessing as feral. Snakebites seemed the closeted to the feral. I realize the squigs may be sub optimal picks. I am picking them for fluff and cause I like how they look. Now I really liked the idea of the Feral, ever since I got beat down really bad by them in 3rd ed. Just never really considered an ork army tell now. Thanks all. Brother Casman
In the fluff, the Snakebites are known for raising the fiercest squiggoths, so they would be my first pick for a clan, I think. Chaplain Lucifer
Snakebites are the feral ones so Squids fit better with them. Blood Axes are the sneaky ones and it's hard to sneak in a squiggoth if you know what I mean... Unless you paint came on your squiggoth to make then extra sneaky. ;) That said some will use more than others but all use them. Go with the clan that you identify the most and don't worry! It's orks! Anything is possible! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/335634-orc-fluff-question/#findComment-4797489 Share on other sites
Quixus
I'm pretty sure sufficiently kunning and brutal orks could scale this up to squiggoth size. iceman2160 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/335634-orc-fluff-question/#findComment-4797590 Share on other sites
Sgt. Blank
Play/build whichever inspires you - both if you want! Honestly the Clans haven't had unit specific rules since a 3rd edition White Dwarf article, so the appearance and composition are largely up to the player. The Snakebites are the kings of squig and grot herding but also fearsome hunters - in previous editions they had access to the huntas unit which had a better BS and shootas, so it's not all spears and squigs for them. Similarly, Bloodaxe are known for their taktiks as well as their kommandoes - it's not all sneaking around. Sume
Thank you all for the responses. I am going to see about borrowing a 3rd ed Ork book so I can read through it. That or scrounge around some local book stores. I was not able to find to much fluff on the 40k lexiumiun or 4chan. I rather not use 4chan. I didnt even know there was special rules for the clans back in 3rd ed. xd Well from the little fluff I have been able to find and read. I really like the Blood Axes. This project I wanted to be able to convert things, maybe even grab Inquisitor Farfax's hat. I remember the ork war-boss from Dawn of War 2 wanting the inquisitors hat. Not to entirely on a color scheme I want just yet. I am wanting a more nurgly green I think for the skin. This project also will let me try out weathering, and rust effects. MagicMan
You can do some really cool snakebite conversion, too, using the savage orruks from Warhammer. I have some ''bikers'' which are the boar riders holding guns. :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/335634-orc-fluff-question/#findComment-4798932 Share on other sites
