01RTB01
Evening all, I'm painting vior'la and I'm sure I've read somewhere about inverted colour schemes - swapping Sept and armour colours - red armour and white markings. Can anyone suggest where I may have read this or have I gone mad?! Thanks in advance! Commander Dawnstar
There's a mention of an elite cadre from T'au using an inverted colour scheme in the 7th Edition Codex. Panzer
It's definitely in the 7th codex. It mentions that some soldiers are allowed to wear an inverted color scheme as reward for outstanding achievements. It's quite rare tho. Kilofix
Isn't Farsight's crew essentially using inverted Viorla colors? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/335669-colour-scheme-query/#findComment-4813927 Share on other sites
Panzer
Isn't Farsight's crew essentially using inverted Viorla colors? Yes and no. GW clearly designed them to look inverted to Farsights home Sept and iirc it also got mentioned that him wearing mainly red armor also has the secondary effect to show everybody he's not part of Vior'la anymore, however the fluff explanation is a bit different. They are wearing red armor plates to honor their fallen comrades (it's also a much darker red than the Vior'la Sept red) and their chosen Sept color is grey (Vior'la dress uniform color is white). If it were a true inverted color scheme they would be wearing brighter red armor and their Sept/rank markings would vary depending on the environment they're fighting in (green for forests, grey/dark blue for urban areas etc.) Also what many people tend to forget or simply ignore for visuals is that even tho most FSE member wear dark red armor, not everybody does. A lot FSE member are doing it like the rest of the T'au Empire and are wearing armor fitting the environment and just add grey Sept/rank markings to it. Just like people tend to ignore that FSE isn't always 100% battlesuits either. They still follow the ways of the T'au Empire with the very same objective etc. just that they aren't following Ethereals anymore. :P Trevak Dal 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/335669-colour-scheme-query/#findComment-4814101 Share on other sites
Firepower
I've always felt Tau could be rather flexible in color schemes. They're a pragmatic bunch after all. 'You know, I like our home planet as much as the next hoofed xenos, but wearing bright red on a frozen wasteland seems a wee bit suicidal.' That's why their Sept color is only applied very little and the actual armor is to blend in with their environment. Farsight Enclave however often prefer to use the moment of surprise to stomp the enemies (much like Space Marines) so they wouldn't need to blend in as much. ;) Firepower 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/335669-colour-scheme-query/#findComment-4816528 Share on other sites
