Pretty straight-forward. We've had a diverse community on the B&C for a while now (Space Marines, Chaos Daemon's, Squatteds of Battle, Imperial Guard, etc), yet we've retained 'Chapter Name' all this time. It wasn't a rather glaring issue up until we saw the expansion to Xenos content recently, and I must admit it's become rather amusing to see the handful of Ork users with 'Chapter' next to their names.

So, really, all I'm proposing is changing it to something more... suitable, I guess? I dunno. It's just a bit odd to look at it now we've got more and more non-Chapter related armies using that feature.

Sounds like a good idea.

If possible maybe make the group type another field to fill out, so that one user can have "Chapter Name: The Emperor's Pointy Sticks" and  another "Hivefleet Name: Om nom nom"

I thought just one more text box, no need for a long drop down menu of suitable group types. Instead of Chapter Name: [insert name here] do

Group Type (e.g. chapter, hIvefleet): [insert group type here]

Group Name: [insert group name here]

It will need some work on the database though.

There is already an "Armies Played" data point.

What the "Chapter" data point is supposed to represent is the Chapter that your board persona identifies with, and it is clearly a holdover from our roots as a site dedicated to Space Marines.

So there are two aspects to this. First is a member's profile. Mine can be seen here. This is where a member provides as much information about themself as they want (I don't have much in my profile, but some members have a considerable amount of information, such as Flint13.

Then there is the small amount of data that appears to the left of a member's post. This is a snapshot of key data points that can be thought of as a baseball card.

The "Chapter Name" data point that appears on the baseball card is presented as "Army Played" on the profile. Note that there is also an "Armies Played" data point that appears in the Previous Fields section of the profile, and that data point allows for a longer string of text.

So we'll have to take a look at the snapshot and member profile holistically in order to determine a suitable alternative for "Chapter Name" in the snapshot.
