As you'll see from my signature, photobucket has decided to remove the free 3rd party linking and want $100 / year to be able to link my pictures.

What  site does everyone else use that is more cost efficient....as I will move the whole lot and then update the links in my threads...

Cheers,

Valaas

I use my own self-hosted Wordpresses … but Wordpress.com might also be a solution. But I'm not 100% certain wether they have a no-hotlinking policiy. And I'm not sure, wether you need any special features beyond uploading and hosting, that photobucket currently offers you …

P.S.: Wordpress.com is free in the Basic setup, but has only 6 GB of Webspace …

P.P.S: Just looked it up … my Hoster has not Traffic-Limits and no no-hotlinking policy and offers 25 GB of Webspace starting with 4 Euros per Month.

Imgur was my go-to until I realized my work browser won't allow the images to be seen.

So, I use the B+C gallery. Since this is the only 40k site I use, then I'm okay with my images only been used and seen here.

But on personal things like social media, Imgur is my spot.

Thanks for the suggestions guys,

That's me finally rehoused the photos and updated all my posts with new pictures. If you spot any I may have missed in one of your threads, let me now and I can up date it.

Cheers,

Valaas

My photobucket stuff (linked in some old projects on other forums) seems still working, but the site went evil a while back already. It thinks of oneself as a social network because it’s jealous on facebook or sth., and doesn’t even show pics without everything on javascript and cookies allowed for quite a time.

What I did is typing “anonymous image hosting” in google.

The terms of service of one of the first results seemed very ok to me.

But what I did next was to find out how the B&C gallery works and I’m using it now for stuff that is for showing here anyway.

Not looking forward to updating all my WIP plog pictures (though some badly needed better versions), but in fairness B&C gallery looks straightforward to use. The only issue I have is sizing at the moment, is there a way to resize at upload, or would the starting pic need to be already at correct size to display fully on a post and not appear cropped/smallish?

The picture must start at being under the limit (2MB) - there is no option to resize at upload iirc. If you're looking to reduce the size of the picture (either by cropping and/or resizing) there's plenty of online image editors that can do that for you. For example, here's the one I use. It's easy, there's no commitments and, if you happen to not like it, there's others you can search for and choose. ;)
