thoughts on Fenrisian wolves in 8th?

I could see them as objective grabbers. For anything else they just die.

They can no longer provide a cover save to units behind them so all they do is charge screen and die.

Dont find myself needing charge screens a lot.

In PL games they are great filler if your lists don't add up well...

 

But seriously, they're fast obj grabbers or overwatch baiters IMO. Just keep them out of LoS so you don't gift wrap first blood.

Leadership of 4 makes them super squishy in my opinion. Seems like they'll just melt in the morale phase. Being that soft makes me feel like they're too expensive for what they do.

I think they are way too squishy for a competitive list. They melt after a few casualties and give up first blood far too easily.

I'd rather take one cyberwolf for 15 than 5 fen wolves for 45. Even a 3 model cyberwolf unit is FAR more durable than a 5 model fen wolf unit for the same cost. GW needs to lower the fen wolf cost even more, or raise the base leadership to 6.

I think I'll try a blob this weekend and see how they do. With a Wolf Priest to babysit them, they should be OK and not run from shooting.... unless I'm missing something  that says they're leadership can't be buffed by a Wolf Priest.

 

My strategy will be similar to my wulfen: Rhino/Razorback block while everyone else run behind. Add a Rune Priest to add to their cover save for insurance. and as usual, deepstriking terminators to distract and take some firepower away from my front lines.

Thwy will get a ld9 if Harald is nearby. And they are Space Wolves and Astartes, so there is plenty of options hiw to give them re rolls or other buffs.
