Filius
Do I see this correct, that the small Box in the 8th Edition Core Book about Hivefleet Hydra feasting on Splinters of other Hivefleets is new fluff? Anyways, who ever came up with this: Great Idea! It makes me love the Tyranid even more. I want to read a Novel about Tyranids devouring Tyranids – and some Astartes in middle of the Grande Bouffe – right now! Redtoof
It has been written before that sometimes Tyranids from different splinter fleets will fight one another, so that the strongest will absorb the weakest and they will combine all the lovely DNA they have harvested on their travels. This is the first time I've heard about it being observed in universe. Cryptix
It actually saddens me, because that was literally the whole purpose of my fleet - Hive Fleet Chimaera was supposed to be an archive of sorts, saving all the best adaptations in case things go AWOL. Maybe other hive fleets deliberately drop a few of their good adaptations behind for your guys to hoover up and add to the library? Lasti
From wh40k chan: :Hive Fleet Hydra has consistently ignored most inhabited worlds in its path, and instead focuses on cannibalizing the splinters of other Hive Fleets. Nobody knows why. Someone can confirm it ignore worlds on its path to hunt tyranids? Filius
"Strangely, the initial Invasion of Hydra seem to have bypassed other, more likely targets, instead seeking out splinter of previous Tyranid Invasions in order to canibalise them." Core Book 8th Edition, Page 137, Infobox "A new Menace". Not to be confused with "The phantom Menace"!
