Ishagu
Guys, Look into the Chaplain Dreadnought. He is a cool HQ, very powerful and contributes to the army as more than just a commander or melee beat-stick. 212 points for a WS2+ BS2+, 9 wound Dread with a 3+ 5++ and 6+ ignore wounds. This includes a Twin Lascannon, CC weapon and Storm Bolter. He's a character so can't be targeted unless he's the closest unit, and provides both great firepower and significant CC capabilities in your backfield. Alternatively, he supports advancing units by granting models in the same combat as him +1 to strength if you plan on moving up :-) Edited July 1, 2017 by Ishagu Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/335957-chaplain-dreadnought/ Share on other sites
MyD4rkPassenger
I've been contemplating running one next to the High Marshal for the extra strength bonus. They seem pretty potent for what they bring to the table however you kit them out. SydonianDragoon404
I'm going to proxy one with an assault cannon for sure here in the coming weeks using my contemptor dread. Stacking that +1 with Helbrecht should be deadly. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/335957-chaplain-dreadnought/#findComment-4804503 Share on other sites
Cognative
The Flamestorm Cannon is really powerful. I'm working on converting a Dreadnought sized Crozius from the space wolf dread blizzard axe right now, just waiting on some parts. Marshal_Roujakis
wait... +1 S from Chap-Dread, +1 S from Helbrecht, then +1 S if fighting against a Monstrous Creature or Character? There can be a S9 Emperor's CHampion??? There can be a S9 Emperor's CHampion??? Welp, I guess an EC could box with dreadnought characters or big nasties and have a decent chance of whooping them. Fantastic! Cognative
I have a new goal in life. Get the Emps Champ to strength 8/9, and with Grim and a few sixes, one shot a Land Raider or big nasty deamon with a sword. Kilamandaros
Not worth putting a twin lascannon on him IMO, you want him up with your assault units to make best use of the buff, I usually go assault cannon/heavy flamer & fist on mine. Ishagu
Unless you're dropping him from a Raven or Dread Pod, I'll take the extra hard hitting firepower as he advances. The Flamer is great, and the Assault Cannon is a decent cheap option, but the Las Cannon has a place for sure. SydonianDragoon404
I don't know if spending the points on a dread pod is worth it these days. Then again, only 6" movement value.... Hmmm needs in game testing. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/335957-chaplain-dreadnought/#findComment-4804962 Share on other sites
Kastor Krieg
Do note as well, that while slow, he does not deteriorate like other Dreads. Until the last wound he will be a 2+/2+, 3+ sv 5++ inv 6+ fnp monster. DBadger
It's also a beautiful model, of course! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/335957-chaplain-dreadnought/#findComment-4805822 Share on other sites
Marshal Mattias
Ooh, maybe my 'champion' ironclad dread can count-as? He has a shield to represent the invulnerable, and can easily stick an assault cannon arm on there when required... he would definitely be distinctive enough to have that inspiring presence! *begins scheming* Honda 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/335957-chaplain-dreadnought/#findComment-4811605 Share on other sites
