With the SB Dom now becoming your best choice for Sisters models, I am thinking the only way to save my Wallet is to figure out a way to convert a slew of my bolter girls into SB's.

All your basic bolter would need is just enough of a width increase to allow for a second barrel side by side with the original barrel. Or alternatively just remove the original barrel and replace it with two smaller barrels mounted side by side.

Nothing says Sororitas stormbolters have to use drum magazines... The Godwin-Deaz has always been a bit bulkier then your 3ed to present plastic marine bolter. Would the double barrel conversion be suitable for WYSIWYG purposes to represent a stormbolter?

Ideas, thoughts?

Get your hands on some plastic storm bolters from rhino lits etc? Yoid only need to use half of it and just place it over the bolter on the model. Storm bolter half and bolter beside make for the double barrel look.

Wirks in my head. Dont have any models with me right now to test.

The plastic stormbolters dont really match up in size to the girls bolter. Drum mags look great, but if I am trying to use the conversion to basically upgrade my painted bolter girls, I don't want to do any hacking to clear away the magazine to fit the drum in and muck up the paint job.

I am currently working on some Xenos for my son, but will be headed to the hobby store today to get some tubing for making the dual barrels and very thin plasticard for padding the bolter out along with some green stuff.

I keep looking at the Index and can't see a reason not to run all my basic bolter bodies as stormbolter Dom's instead. Perhaps with the combi-weapon change putting a combi-melta on the Dom Superior for a bit of AT on the model you are going to want to keep till last anyhow for morale and weapon purposes.

Just wanted to highlight that, while at present there is very little reason not to run every squad as a Dominion squad, this might not always be the case. Right now all you lose by running Dominion Squads instead of Battle Sister Squads is a couple of command points, but it might be in the future that you lose out on a lot more. Thus converting every model you own might require you buying more, conventionally armed, sisters down the line.

BS are for immospam brigade lists pretty much.

Sorry about the horrendous quality. I managed to find an ancient phone, that's camera just about works :smile.:

So this is simply cutting off the original magazine (I did this on painted minis no problem) and replacing it with a drum mag off the sterguard vet bolters. If your really careful, you can even use the strap too! I've got 20 Doms rocking stormies now!

At any rate, I don't have enough stormbolter models to make anything atm. Actually just converted a bunch up as combi's and sold them so I am looking at having to buy models either way. I suppose nothing is keeping me from just playing my BSS squads as cheap under equipped Dom squads. Doms are better at immo-repressor spam, scout for 5 points is nothing to sneeze at.

I guess I'm the only one with a surplus of stormbolter models. Buying and finding groups of secondhand Sisters models I've always taken what I could get, so ended up with a handful that I never knew what to do with before, except make them secondary squad leader options or a theoretical Celestian squad.

Is it just the low points cost of the stormbolter that is making them so attractive now? I can't see getting excited about SB Doms over melta or even flamer Doms.

Thanks Aqui! :D I will post some better pics when my new camera arrives.

I find they work much better than the flamers Warsmith. Im cursed with only ever rolling ones for my flamer shots. Where as with my Canoness, I can reroll any ones I roll. Plus the long range is great for defending a point. Im sure statically flamers are better, just not for me :)

Thank you kindly Montford! Just wish I could take a proper picture of them. They don't even look fully painted in that awful fuzzy pic lol. And I've got my first Immolater painted I really want to share.

I was thinking Drac panzer. You could just give the models you want to have storm bolters, a snazzy paint job. Maybe a red casing, with gold embellishments? I'm planning on doing something similar, just so my opponents can clearly see the difference. As soon as my new cam arrives, I will post my results :)

p.s I've also got a new light box on the way, yay!

Still struggling without my replacement camera. These pics are slightly clearer I think? Wow Drac, that is serious commitment lol.

In looking at what I have already painted, I didn't really want to go back and work conversions on already painted models. Who knows, the stormbolters might get nerfed if and when a Dex gets released. At least then I wouldn't have hacked up a bunch of bolter girls for nothing. WYSIWYG was looking to be an issue locally. So I pulled the trigger and got the lot, threw in some Seraphim as well. At any rate, even if the SB Dom doesn't survive being as the darling of the if and when Dex. I could still use them to add to my comb-weapon pool.

Great job on those conversions Alessia!
