Plaguewolf Death Guard WIP +DP Paint Update+

Hello!

I have been a member here for 9 years and before that a member of deathguard.org and in the hobby since 3rd edition. I havent played a game since 5th edition but always enjoyed building small warbands and tried a few times to start playing but other things get in the way. 

Now I want to make this WIP to motivate myself to start again and finish some old projects. This is going to be like a blog and I will try to update on a regular basis with some new stuff but also some nostalgic from a time lost in the warp.

 

Few weeks ago I dug out my box of GW things  and started to put together some Death Guards. I also made a Daemon Prince, inspired from the grim dark and awesome Ironsleet.com

I use black & white filter because many bits are painted and reused and it looks cooler.

 

I start with just these few pics and hopefully more at the end of the week. waiting for some orders from FW and GW

Damn, that daemon prince looks already awesome at this stage. It's also nice to see these pages again, especially with so many Night Lords pictured.

Paint update....

The thing is that i hate painting... really hate it. I should be much better, but I always pay someone to do the paintjob.. well not this time. So i packed up my airbrush and cleaned everyting and started seting up in the bathroom (girlfriend studying abroad so no worries =) and on the kitchen table.

I want to find a good and fast way to paint so i tryed 2 different base coats. one vallejo white and one vallejo white mixed with another color, cant remember but some light brown/biege...  and then did the trim. I'm testing different trims. tell me wich one you guys like the most!

And after some washing in deluted seraphim sepia and vallejo rust they look like this. 

there is some differens between because of the basecoats but im not sure wich i like the most. 

I wasent sure how i wanted the Death Guard icon on the shoulder pad so i did them black/grey, think they look okay like that.

Remember these are "tests" to see wich type of armour color i want so I havent done all the detales!!

DP update!  Added some greenstuff. Tried  to make the wings to apper natural... diden't work.. buuut hopefully will my bad paintjob fix it.. I will try to make it look like the wings growing out and morphing with the armour and matching the daemon arm... wait for it.. 

Did not want the hood at first but nothing says Death Guard/Nurgle daemon prince more than a hoody... thanks Mortarion.

Made the hood in two layers to cover up some misses. and again hopefully will the paintjob clearify some things.

That daemon prince is simply ingenious. I apologise in advance but I am most likely going to have to steal that idea......

small update.. been puting togheter all the death guards an get them ready for painting. so hopefully i will geting some painting done this weekend.

A krios venator to make some rhino/transport thing or maybe convert to that new DG mortar tank =)

I F#%& hate airbrush! 

so I tought I was going to paint all the Death Guards and maybe start on the DP today... But... my airbrush had other plans..

First I must say that I am no airbrush expert, I just use it for primers and base coating so it is a no proffesional equipment I have..

Anyway... one thing with airbrush is theres alot of cleaning... alot! and I must clean my airbrush at least every 5 minutes of use.. all paint dry on the needle and it start clogging and become useless.. and I have tried everything! I use vallejo model air paints. I have tested to delute the paint with differents thinners and airbrush flow improver..  but it almost makes it worse.. 

but sometimes it works and it feels like I can paint the world! But not this morning. At least I was able to put on some primer but after that I never got the flow and after like 3 hours I gave up... and I need to buy more paint.

I'm not sure how I want to paint this but the armour gonna be like the others and the sword black. but the wings and daemon arm I'm not sure about.

Demon prince is a thing of beauty. Watching with anticipation...

Started painting the DP. And not sure of the outcome... much details left but it is the arm and wings that bother me. 

I'm not a good painter so I always try to find shortcuts.. but washing the daemonic parts green diden't work out... anyway... the armour did work and looks good in the group photo..

I know others have said it and i thought at first not to post but....That Prince....he's like the right mix of Gross and Finesse! You should be very proud of the way he's turned out! I really admire your choice of not making him the traditional bloated and fat style Nurgle Prince.
