Hey folks, I was wanting some critique to my list I put together.  I played an IG player today and got pretty much wiped turn 2.  He had a baneblade that destroyed my black star and troops inside of it so nothing I could really do there but any advice would definitely help

I had 2 kills teams and artemis in one blackstar and it got shot out of the sky from a bane blade, exploded and dealt 6 mortal wounds to everyone in there (I know 3 6's sucks)

 

the other one had only 1 kill team and my librarian in it and it exploded and librarian and the other kill team took 3 and 4 mortal wounds.

 

The vanguard vets didn't get a chance to deepstrike in because of the blob of troops i wasn't able to kill with the blackstar.  I think i only took out maybe 15 guardsman and one tank.  so any advice would help.

From your lineup, I'd say your well suited to thinning the Imperial Guard numbers. The real problem is the Baneblade your IG opponent fielded. Think of it as his deterrent that shifted the scales to his favour. So here's what I would suggest

 

1) Artemis is a good choice for a Captain, but add in a Watch Master to the list to ensure your hits count for something in the end. 

 

2) You could have a deterrent of your own to even the scales a bit. For that you will require your own massive unit. I'd recommend going for either an Imperial Knight or a Fellblade as it's own detachment. It would at least make your opponent draw attention to your deterrent while you seize any openings you can find to smash the Baneblade to bits. 

 

3) Give at least two of your Kill Teams two Rocket Launchers. It seems you will not be able to easily reach the Baneblade in time to do any significant damage. The Rocket Launchers may not do as much damage as Frag Cannons but you can at least fire them at a safe location.
