Black Eye Lenses?

Question to throw around, I'm painting up some Carcharodons and am wondering how to address the eye lenses, in most of the artwork depicting them they appear to have black eye lenses. How would one go about painting such a detail? My first few attempts have been meant with less then desired results, so I'm all ears for ideas.

I just put Nuln Oil in the sockets. An extra coat or three will get them pretty dark. If you want jet black, you'll probably need to paint them in with actual black paint, then hit them with some gloss.

I've been using Vallejo black ink slightly diluted dabbed in the sockets, the MKVI Marines look aright with the technique, the MkIV ones for whatever reason don't look nearly as good, might have to do with the shape of the eye sockets, and my poor excuse for painting skills. Will experiment some more and report back.

I usually just paint the lenses with black and then put a coat of GW 'ardcoat over it for that nice glass sheen.

Will echo, the observer. Paint black, coat of gloss varnish.  White dot in the upper back 'corner' of the lens if you like.

Thirded. Black paint and some Future Floor Wax (or whatever it's called now) brushed on for some gloss does the trick.

@BCK: is that just a reflection from the Future or did you paint some reflection points on there as well?

Might take me several days but I will try my hand with the gloss varnish and white dot, Thanks for the advice.

Heh, I'm not sure I understand your answer. Paint and polish? Or just paint?

Sorry, it's a reflection from the FFW on the black paint, not painted on reflections.
