Darkn3ssF4lls
Hello Everyone, I am looking to write up the fluff for my hive fleet. Are books like those describing the plight of BAAL or the battle between the fleet and the ultramarines the only perspectives we get into the fleets and their actions? Besides of course supplements or what not from last edition? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/336306-fluff-question/ Share on other sites
Darkn3ssF4lls
The silence answers all then I guess Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/336306-fluff-question/#findComment-4812647 Share on other sites
Matt_149
Yeah I think all tyranid stuff I have read is based on the preys point of view. In earlier tyranid codexs they were written almost as a guide to the "inquisitor" (you) reading it with lots of magos biology stamps etc and the names are all based on what soldiers called the creature types. There was a really good story in one of the codex that covered the fall of a planet from the viewpoint of a guardsman. Starts with him in a unit investigating missing people (lictors) and ends with him hiding in a hole after watching a squad of space marines get eaten! Xenith
Check out the Genestealer cult fluff. More stealer based, but still cool and insidious. Other than that, Tyranid fluff is pretty samey: They come, they eat, they leave. The new rulebook apparently has some detals on what the different main hive fleets (Kraken, Behemoth, Leviathan) are doing. otherwise, google is your friend Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/336306-fluff-question/#findComment-4814567 Share on other sites
Irbis
Xenology had some unique insights on Tyranids, but it's hard to get book. As for perspective of prey, Ciaphas Cain fights Tyranids a lot and does have some interesting observations on strategies and capabilities of hive mind/genestealers/cults... Matt_149
And the cain books are some of the better 40k fiction in my view :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/336306-fluff-question/#findComment-4815484 Share on other sites
House Taranis
The Shield of Baal series is quite a good one as it displays the nids fighting on a whole range of terrains, from gas giants to ocean worlds.
