Nharvey89
So we started a campaign yesterday at my local store, for the first few weeks we are running really low power level, first week was 10 and we are jumping up to 20 next week. I spent ages going in trying to work out what to take and settled on 5 wolf guard. I am probably near verging on obsession when it comes to taking storm shields atm lol. I knew I would probably have the smallest force but as it was narrative themed I knew I was going to get to drop 9 away and see how it went. It went terribly lol, not once out did I get my first turn charge. But the worse thing to me was the versatility others seemed to be able to get out of just that 10, guard in particular where bringing so much to the table. Next week we are jumping up to 20 power level and I have to say I still feel like I will be somewhat crippled. What would you guys bring to the table if all you had was 20 power level? I have enough models for the flexibility but don't know how I am going to get us to work at this level. Chaos Lord Tom
At this game size, it's boys over toys everyday. You should capitalize on the versatility of our grey hunters. As long as you play PL you can take a 10 men squad with 2 plasma guns, a plasma pistol, chainswords for everybody and a power weapon of your choice on the pack leader. You can field 3 of them including one with a WGPL with CP and a power weapon. PG can be switch to flamers if you're afraid of hordes. If one HQ is required, I'd switch a squad with a wolf lord with a Combi weapon of your choice, a power weapon and a jump pack for added mobility. It will help overcharging plasma. If you go with flamers switch the lord with a WGBL on bike with same load out or with JP and storm shield + power weapon. Guest
I would think Scouts with sniper rifles and camo cloaks would be good. Outrange the guard and have a 2+ against ranged. If they attempt to melee they would get stomped. The issue is if they bring vehicles in which you could hope that you roll a bunch of 6's which a group of 10 scouts should be getting 2 each turn but that wont be enough. Maybe using Grey Hunter with melta or plasma above would be optimal. To get the vehicles and the scouts could pick off their HQ's breaking any bonus's they are giving out then focus onto the troops. Brother Hellion
Strange to be playing at such a low power level. My store just had us start at 50 and then we quickly moved to 100 pp for most normal games now. Its the same as playing a 2k points match but with all the fixings now. But for under 20points? Ehh stick with Gh squads and throw in a razoback with twin linked ass or las cannons. Nharvey89
I know it's soo dam low and limits me a huge amount I feel compared to other armies, but it's what I'm playing with so I don't mind, I know once the points increase my army has been theory crafted to the point where I will do just fine and they will be worth more points anyway. We are starting so low to bash out games to start getting dots on the map. I would go for GH GH but it's 6 point per 5, just because we have dam chain swords... snipers are a good idea, thinking for next week 5 snipers, 5 long fangs, fenrisian wolves (because I have 2 points) and a wgbl on tw, Missiles on the Lf. With Lf already rerolling 1s to hit and any ones from the snipers meaning reroll and potentially another 6 it might work, still only 11 men though but I should have first turn as we are doing deployment rules. Wgbl their for counter attack and the wolves will give at least a small amount of screening? Think the Lf and the snipers are going to work out but what else to take? Maybe stick a ven dread with shield, that should soak a huge chunk. It's harder working at these low points then crafting a 2k army. Any more advise on this would be appreciated, my wolves had too poor a showing this week, not enough wounds on my force.
