Lone Monkey
Sorry if this is in the wrong place, as it’s not really an army list. Not yet anyways. I am a long-time Death Guard player who decided to trade in his Barbarus heritage for some Mechadenrites. I’ve made several purchases and am in the process of building/painting what I have, but am struggling with a list and/or what to buy next to make said list cohesive and playable. I’d kinda just gone “Oooooh Shiny” and bought what I like, or folded in what I have that's compatible without any foresight as to how well it would all go together. This is where you gents come in. I could use a hand pointing me to the next best steps in building a 3k Mechanicum list. Without further ado, here’s what I have. Magos Dominus Converted Archmagos (can stand in as Scoria) Castellax w/ Mauler x2 Castellax w/ Multi-melta x2 Thallax x6 Secutarii Peltasts x10 Secutarii Hoplites x10 Vultarax Stratos-Automota Voss Pattern Lightning Arvus Lighter Thanatar Siege-Automota Macrocarid Explorator Questoris Knight Errant Acastus Knight Porphyrion Now, I know I have a playable list here, but I cannot for the life of me make it into one I am happy with. I feel like I’m on the cusp of a decent Legio Cybernetica list, but can also run vanilla Taghmata just as well (I am pretty far off from a Reductor list). Any and all input is greatly appreciated. LtDan
I happen to play both deathguard and mech too. Do you have a goal with the mech. Are they your main force now? Ally etc?. And what attracted you to mech? Big stompy robots? In which case go cyber! Big guns? Reductor Or just want to sit on the fence and go taghmata. I personally play a myrmidon heavy list. As they are such cool models. I mainly just get what looks cool haha. You do seem to have the start of a good cyber list but you would have to drop the hoplites/pestasts. The rest you can use/make use of. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/336337-mechanicum-list-advice/#findComment-4813696 Share on other sites
Lone Monkey
They have become my main army at this point. I play AdMech on 40k and just wanted to carry that into 30k as I'm really enjoying them. Unfortunately I like them all! :D Though I think I'm leaning Legio more than the others. Definitely like the thought of Legio or Reductor more than vanilla Tagmahta. Dropping the Secutarii aren't a big deal. I initially bought those for my 40 AdMech, but as of now they have no 8th ed rules so are shelved anyways. While I know nothing really takes the place of good old fashioned TT experience, any input on what would go well if I were to follow through on a Legio list would be great! LtDan
I do think its better to pick reductor or cyber to make the most out of mech. As said you got a starting point. Scoria as hq You need 2x2 castellex as comp troops(these don't score tho) Then run the thallax as 2x3 to score objectives.(maybe consider tech-thralls for dirt cheap scoring) Vultrax as AA and AT. (I'd consider a second instead of the lightning just to fit the theme) Thanatar as heavy choice. Maybe get a second? Or make use of the macroanid and get a unit of myrmidons in there outflanking for fun Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/336337-mechanicum-list-advice/#findComment-4814718 Share on other sites
Lone Monkey
Thanks for the follow-up. A second Vultarax is high on my to get list (love that model anyways!). Myrmidons in a Macrocarid sound fun yeah. Which version are you referring to; the Destructors or the Secutors? LtDan
Depends what your looking for. And what choices you have left. Descructors are hs but great at anti infantry.(grav and irad) Secutors are elite, with grav guns are awesome anti tank Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/336337-mechanicum-list-advice/#findComment-4815042 Share on other sites
