Mantis Warriors in 8th Ed - Primaris the Key to Redemption?

Greetings all!

 

Long time lurker, minimal poster.

 

I have always had a soft spot in my heart for the much-maligned Mantis Warriors, ever since their portrayal as a noble chapter attempting to redeem themselves in the (admittedly awful) Warrior Brood novel.

 

Has anyone had any thoughts about adding Primaris to this noble Chapter? I have an idea of running the new Primaris units, supported by regular Marine veterans and characters as the Praying Mantidae.

 

It would be great to see any work you guys have made in this direction, as sadly there does not seem to be a strong showing for my favourite Chapter.

I've been a lurker here for a long, long time and haven't had much to input or show to the forum, but your post called me out. I've put these up on a couple FB groups already

 

I've decided to paint my Primaris Marines as Mantis Warriors after finding a single Mantis Warrior I painted back when 2nd edition came out. 

I figure they've completed the penitent crusade and were summoned back to aid with the Chaos containment.
Being long away from the fold they were brought back up to strength with the new marines and equipment (when it becomes available)

Still working on the box set.. More to come in interested

This is exactly what I am looking to do, obviously without the crazy good paint job that you managed.

Thanks.  I'm happy with them so far. 
This'll be my 1st painted Marine force since Space Hulk termies came out...

 

 

Bases.. no idea atm. 
Not planning on a ton of work on them.  Prob just some sand/texture paint and rocks.. Easier is better atm. 
I did the Agrellian earth on my Admech so these will have to be different I'm thinking... Or maybe not..

 

 

I struggled with the perfect green color choice for a while...  
Then the new death guard spray came out.

Death guard spray base, heavy Bien-tal green wash and drybrush/line highlights with elysian green. Other washes for deep shadows and thats it
