TempestBlade
I just completed my first game of 8th ed and man was it fun! Ran a whole lot smoother than 7th and just felt more engaged than sitting back and having your models shot off the board. I must say though, Grimnar on sled is horrible. Being 12W he got sniped out early by 3 squads of havocs (2 with 4x missiles and 1 with 4x lascannons). It made me think: having more than 10 W is actually a bad thing. You can get sniped out super easy and with a 4++ you aren't going to last too long. 14W is easy to get rid of too. From now on he will be leaving the sled at home Filius 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/336391-just-had-my-first-game/ Share on other sites

Deadnaughty
The stat changes with wounds makes tanks and monsters (or there equivalent like Lorgar on Sled) more survivable against small arms fire. But equal or more vunerable against anti-tank weapons. Where a big monster used to take 6-7 shots to kill they can now die in 3-4 with some above average rolls. Garreck
I think Logan off his sled will be much more forgiving to use. Having him on the sled means his survival hinges on deployment. Put him on the table last, where you can dictate his starting position relative to things that can hurt him the most. Put as many shots as practical into such units in your first round of shooting. Get him stuck in with something asap. Â I guess the question then becomes "is Logan on sled worth dictating your entire strategy around?" Lord Blackwood
He's really not. Â Though I found him pretty good with other TDA Wolf guard Jarl Deathwolf 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/336391-just-had-my-first-game/#findComment-4813717 Share on other sites
TempestBlade
Arjac, Grimnar and some WGTDA in a Stormwolf might be fun. Only thing is a TDA Wolf Priest might be a more efficient point solution.... more testing is needed Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/336391-just-had-my-first-game/#findComment-4813838 Share on other sites
Jarl Deathwolf
I found Logan on foot to be a powerful force. Him, a lone wolf, and a TDAWG pack were able to open up an entire front by themselves. The Old Wolf (sans chariot) will definitely be a viable option this edition. Kasper_Hawser
Will test Logan on Foot this weekend. At the same time, to maximise his strengths, bring as many Wolf Guard as I can, terminator or otherwise and see if the removal of leadership test is really worth it.  Personally I think despite the Wolf Priest in Terminator armour being cheaper, the Priests rerolls to hit only applies to Fight Phase, whereas Logan reroll to hit applies to everything, so Logan will be equally effective in buffing stormbolters/combi-weapon wielding wolf Guard. Add a Wolf Guard Battle Leader of killing multi wound characters rises exponentionally.  Of course, this could backfire spectacularly but what the heck? As long as I'm not facing a min-maxer list, a terminator army with a couple of Stormfangs as pure anti-tank shouldn't be too easy to beat. I hope.  Well done on your game by the way. Pity the stupid sleigh didn't work out. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/336391-just-had-my-first-game/#findComment-4814038 Share on other sites
Nrthstar
I've been curious about the sled, even traded my dg for one, but it was immediately shelved in favor of ds Logan. In my last tournament I ds him, arjac and wg. It worked great except against the Girlyman razorline. My tda did get their first turn charge off though, and ultimately Logan faced off against Girlyman and b*@#& slapped him into the ground. The other three rounds it was an extremely potent combo. TempestBlade
Thanks for the replies all. I agree that the sled is going to sit on the shelf a while. Ds in Grimnar and arjac with some TDAWG sounds fun or I'll put them in a stormwolf. Man I love those stormwolves. Kasper_Hawser
Oh Yeah, Stormwolves are awesome now with their dakka. Just have to make a hard decision to spend extra on the twin multi meltas which are absolutely brutal with 4 shots total.
