I'm considering taking a Librarian for the first time since Mephiston in 6th Ed (not counting the time I took a Libby Dread who got sucked into the Warp on his first manifestation attempt).

He will probably act as an escort to the SG along with a Priest, so will definitely have a jump pack. Looking for ideas and opinions on what other wargear to give him in such a role. The SG have swords, axes and Angelus bolt guns so maybe a plasma pistol?

I love plasma this edition! And plasma pistols being relatively cheap I hand those puppies out. Word of warning to shoot it in safe mode until you really really need that extra 1 damage/str.

Ive been thinking about using the lib for shield on the SG, so you're meta is down with choosing powers I'd give that a whirl. If you're deep striking them behind enemy lines, your opponent is definitely going to fire some heavy duty bullets into them.

Also post how it goes. I'm loving the Sanguinor with my SG, but I've been looking at lib as a cheaper alternative.

Since he is going to be near a priest go force sword. If not axes are more sexy.

It is all about str 5 over str 4 on the damage table.

Plasma pistol is prolly a good idea but not required.

Don't overcharge it, Libby has eough to worry about with the occasional perils of the warp and such hehhehheh.

Sword or axe.

Stave is sadly bad.

Doesn't wound anything except toughness 5 and 6 better than the axe, and only -1 ap is really had.

Axe gives you the str5, meaning worst you'll ever wound is a 5+, and you wound infantry on 3s.

Swords are comparable, and are just straight better with a priest nearby for the same reasons the axe is better than the maul.
