New models need a new army.

Wish I had a better picture for the title opening :sad.:

Wanted to have a Greek/gladiatorial feel throughout the army, and after much back and forth over names and such I've settled on the above Chapter name. I feel dirty for saying and thinking it, but I will be using... ultramarine rules as best fits the theme ....  possibly something different.

I have a few names kicking around for this guy who will be the stand in chapter master, for now. Who knows what models they will bring out for this range, or what new conversion I'll do.

Colour scheme will be: main colour a bone/ivory white with perhaps a marble effect here and there, a dark/burnt copper trim/details, undecided shade of Teal for the cloth parts/helmet crests and maybe a few gold bits here and there.

I'm going to need a fair amount of helmets crests. For the standard mass of troops, going to see about making press moulds to pump lots, based on the metal one like on 30k Khârn.

Thanks very much all,

@GrandMagnus, aye, wanted something a bit different and not really seen (to my knowledge). I have tinkered with using horses before but never took off in my mind. For me, everything just fit together when I came across that opening image.

@Vairocanum. aye, left a little raised bit at the back of the head, but the overall thing had to go.

Well, primed it black today, then wanted to make some leather straps to come down from the shoulder pads. So they have been moulded and currently have greenstuff curing in them. Used the leather straps bits that come from the betrayal  at clath Mk4 sprues. Going to chop them in half to use around the back and front inner most sections.

Tested the fist parts of the colour scheme this evening. Results for the oldish copper, with and without camera flash on.

Huh, just remembered I wanted to use a little Nihilakh oxide on it. Best leave that for tomorrow, it is late.

Nice cooper, but I would recommend not using Nihilak Oxide. It seems strange to have warriors who don't take care of their armour and allow the oxidation to take place. But if you are going for a heavily weathered look, long campaing and the like, then it will look ok.

In any case, your decition, just a thought.

Been a busy 5 days  on coming to the final colours for my army and closer to making my own water transfer decals for the army. The final selection is fairly easy to reproduce throughout and the paint is still available. Started on the copper work this evening.

The camera has picked up a lot of the nuln oil, but in real life there is more of a gentle tone from edge highlight to recesses.

Still to decide on the eye lense colour. Any suggestions?

Main armour will be a white/cream/bone colour, cloth parts and crests will be a light teal and as above the coppery bits. The helmet will be the white colour.

I'm thinking maybe just a black with grey highlights?

Thanks Schultzhoffen,

Warplock bronze, remember, two thin coats!! > reikland fleshshade > dry brush balthasar gold > drybrush brass scorpion > light dry brush of balthasar gold, very light picking out edges etc > nuln oil carefully in recesses.

Additional step > pick highlight with hashut copper for some shiny points. Just tried it as it was a little undefined in areas.

A bit of work but enjoyable and again in real life there are more tones visible. I did wash over with reikland fleshshade afterwards, as I over dry brushed the last highlight a little. Its a lot lighter on troop models as there is more details for it to highlight.
