Hello fellow traitors! I was wondering if anyone would like to celebrate the new edition with some sort of Tale of Gamers: chaos traitors edition? Get some group incentive going to get around to painting some chaotic stuff and clear out our painting backlogs a bit in manageable chunk of x points or power levels per unit of time. Think anyone would be interested?

Either could be interesting. If a "Tale of Gamers" type thing, I think anything with the Chaos keyword would be interesting. Modeling competition, maybe one squad/command squad to a unique regiment. Something many people could do something for with minimal expenditure. I think it could be fun to build up some interest in guard in general, and evil guard in particular.

Depends on what people want to do. If there are 4ish of us willing to do a traditional Tale of X Gamers, we could commit to painting up a certain number of points/models/power levels every week/2weeks/month. The whole goal is too have a game-usable painted army after a certain amount of time. With all the conversions I've been doing and need to paint, I'd be down with this to build up effectively a "new" army as an adjunct to my old one.

The other option, which would be less about building an army and more about modeling, is a competition to build a guard model or squad and then ask people to vote on the best ones for bragging rights. The first motivates people to build and paint a lot, the second motivates many more people to exercise a small vow of creativity.

I'd be down for either and, as I currently have a ton of time on my hands, would be happy to do the behind the scenes thread maintenance work. I'm mostly trying to see what people would be up for doing. I'd personally love the motivation and fun of seeing my own and several armies grow over a couples months, but I'm also a shameless kitbasher and would enjoy a smaller one-off project as well.

Edit: I forgot the third type. The third type of event is too see how much renegade guard we as a forum can build and paint in a certain amount of time. Like we shoot for x-thousand points by the end of August or something. That could be fun too because anyone can make a vow to participate for even just one model, but everyone can paint as much as they want. This one may be the best if 4+ people can't commit to painting 1500+ points in a short ish time.

Id be in, though I'm not sure to what extent. I'm working on a bike squad for the DA challenge currently, but after that I want to focus on my R&H and get that rolling. I have a squad of 10 built, and about 40 more in pieces. I cant say for certain I could pull off the Tale of Gamers scenario, but I'm certainly up for a challenge!

Maybe the "see how many points we can vow and build" type event would work best, so everyone can paint as much as they can/want to?

Edit: Thinking about it more, I think this makes the most sense. The more the merrier after all. I'm thinking all entries must be vowed before finishing, with multiple vows allowed once you finish one commitment. All entries must have the Keyword faction Chaos, and at least half of your vow must belong to Heretics and Renegades. That way they have to have some H&R, but allied Chaos stuff is allowed, just like in game. Same as most events, you'd post before and after pics of the painted unit. I'm thinking start nowish to get it rolling, and running thru...end of August? Month and a half seems like enough time for even slow painters to paint something. This way literally everyone could contribute something if they want, even if just one trooper, or go whole hog and paint a whole army. This should be fun :-D

Since soooooo many units overlap, maybe just let you use either list, as long as they're "chaotic" in spirit. Rough Riders are a perfect example. I have stuff to convert 15 but there's no chaotic equivalent. I think the spirit is more important than little specifics, so I'd say whichever list, with r&h preferred, since it's all for fun and bragging rights anyway, right?
