TheTrans
Hey guys, Looking at adding a Destroyer to my Krieg list, just wondering if anyone has any experience with them this edition.I feel maybe 2 full squads of lascannon heavy weapon teams are probably better..but it is a damn cool model, and lets me honest I feel most of us are in the game for the fluff and fun over the bare bones 'crunch of it all.So, yeah...let me know your thoughts etc and if it is worth it (getting a 2nd hand one for a decent price, so not the end of the world if it is :cusse :P)Cheers, Nick Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/336793-destroyer-tank-hunters-serviceable/ Share on other sites
Nicodemus Doloroso
I have no experience with the Destroyer in 8th or any edition ... but you are right, it is an awesome looking model. And the "rule of cool" always wins the day as far as I'm concerned. If I was in it to dominate my opponents I wouldn't play Guard. elmo 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/336793-destroyer-tank-hunters-serviceable/#findComment-4822812 Share on other sites
Halfpint100
I converted one recently and have used it twice, it didnt perform that well, i was against necrons (Quantum shielding sucks!) and then chaos raptor army next. When it hits, it does huge damage. When it hits..... it is 170 points of inaccuracy. I love the model and may test it again in the future, but i have found much better ways to spend 170 points of anti-tank. But it is a T8 W13 vehicle, so is hard to kill. I had 3 meltas fire within half range and they only took 6 wounds off. IT has pros and cons KhaosRising 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/336793-destroyer-tank-hunters-serviceable/#findComment-4823203 Share on other sites

Halfpint100
I havent had any further games since that. I was also using a manticore and a basilisk, which have also been useful and cheaper. Also melta command squads in chimeras or valkyries work. 170 points of deep strike melta/plasma scions are also amazing! a 5man with 2 meltas are 72 points. with plasma, they are 62 points. The tank destroyer i think could worth with command points and maybe yarrick as a buff. but i find it is too unreliable damage wise. But is hard to kill Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/336793-destroyer-tank-hunters-serviceable/#findComment-4825397 Share on other sites
DarthWaffle
I'm a huge fan of the Destroyer Tank Hunter. Since reading about in Gaunt's Ghosts; Sabbat Martyr, I've had an affiliation with this variant of Leman Russ. From the fluff perspective, its probably one of the coolest anti-tank vehicles in the Imperial arsenal (IMO). Rules wise, I think it does have a place (though mathhammer might disagree). Against Landraiders, Knights, and other vehicles it seems decent for casual games. Low profile, huge range, tough to kill. The biggest concern is it need to hit, but as stated before with CP it might be worth it! I'm with Nicodemus, for me rule of cool makes it a TP :) CoffeeGrunt and walter h 2 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/336793-destroyer-tank-hunters-serviceable/#findComment-4826432 Share on other sites

I also like it's bigger brother, the Valdor Tank Hunter. ^_^ Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/336793-destroyer-tank-hunters-serviceable/#findComment-4827559 Share on other sites
