Gendo
Want to know how you deploy him and move him, so far I'm struggling to get to any enemy Characters with him this edition. I have him in a Rhino with a Crusader squad and Honour Guard, dropping the squad near the other Rhino with the Chaplain and move forward but most opponents I've faced they keep their HQs very far and hard to reach having to sadly use the EC to fight non Characters as I'll never make it to one. Edit: Also my local meta is mostly shooty xenos that can run away all game long. JAG Templar
With The High Marshal and 8 chainsword crusdaers in a Stormraven. I face a lot of massed Imperial Guard so EC goes after Commissars and Commanders while crusaders kill guardsmen. I've only been caught in the open once against Tau after accidentally killing too many. JAG Templar
after accidentally killing too many. You can never "accidentally kill" too much xenos brother Very true! The real issue was that there was nothing to 'consolidate into' after all the killing. It's a nice little trick when it works. Lysere
Land raiders and storm ravens both make for good ways to get the EC into combat. If the enemy insists on hiding from you a drop pod could work as well. Marshal_Roujakis
FORWARD!!! Oh, you mean seriously? Then usually in a transport, either a Land Raider Crusader or in a Rhino, or even a Razorback but always with support to help them get into target... usually I tend to either stick them into the thick of things and just pile all my models there, or I use the three pronged attack and sneak them into the backline as the 3rd prong where they usually deal with the ranged shooters... Can't believe 3 pronged attacks still work though this edition, although it is much more costly... Stormraven might also be a good idea as suggested, although I've never tried it myself... I usually put Dreadnoughts and Honour Guard in those, makes them much more effective... Ebon Hand
I use a Rhino as well, having him roll with Crusaders. I've been using my Emperor's Champion to deal with potential character assassinations, keeping him close to my Terminator Chaplain or Grimaldus. As far as getting him where he needs to be, it's more about reading the flow of battle than the mode of transportation. Just imagine where your opponent will want his characters to be and try to fight in that area. Keep him near the units they will likely target. If you are pressing forward your champ will be able to move around relatively safely and seek out their champions. Gendo
I've disembarked him too soon again as I had to take care of Terminators and Psyker that dropped in my back, always forget that I can re-embark on the Rhino...and the Techmarine was the one to kill the Psyker. I'm probably too hasty on disembarking him as it probably would take 3 Rhino movement turns to chase around a character, and for some reason I always mess up deployment and have him near an edge, a central deployment would be better. Will try and give him a ride on the LRC with Helbrecht and 2 Crusader squads, drop the Honour Guard and max out on Crusader on its former Rhino. gang_chong
My EC had challenged to Guilliman few games ago and he took 7 wounds at the first strike. 7 wounds! if I had better luck, I could one shot G-Man in a turn. EC is true Character killer in 8th ed. Kisada
My first game with the EC he was behind a crusader squad that was engaged with some Plague Marines. The Death Guard player tried to bring his Typhus and Sorcerer in terminator armor into the fight. I moved the EC around the melee along with a chaplain and made the charge to place him in combat with the foul pair. Typhus was slain in the first strike... the filthy witch followed in the next round of combat. Kilamandaros
With Grimaldus generally, the extra attacks and rerolls against non characters make him even more of a monster Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/336842-how-do-you-run-your-ec-in-8th/#findComment-4825926 Share on other sites
