Brother Aiwass
Good morning fellow modelers, I feel adventurous these days and I want to buy an airbrush, but I don't even know where to start. Only used one once (a really really cheap one that came with a modeling magazine collection) and it clogged and made a very big mess of all. That was using watered down Citadel paints. That was like 7 or 8 years ago. Since then, I didn't even thought of trying that again but things change and I want to try some painting and weathering techniques for which an airbrush would be very nice to use. I also hate painting vehicles by hand, really. So, may you give me some advice? I don't have a lot of money to spend but I like quality, so, what's good for a beginner? Thanks in advance! E_50_Panzer
Honestly, I got a cheap one for 40$ on ebay (it came with a compressor too) , and I haven't had any real issues with it. I can do zenithal highlights and vehicle basecoating, as well as basecoating tricky colors like bone. I can't really do camo without putty or tack though. I use watered down citadel paint, I usually drop water in the cup until it goes one third- one half way, then I add one to two brushloads of paint. Brother Aiwass
Thanks Panzer! Was this one? http://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/Kt4AAOSwGIRXbPWB/s-l1600.jpg It comes with no nozzle specification tho, and while the price is good, I'm feeling wary as this is totally unknown terrain to me, cheers! That's very similar to the one I got. In fact it looks like an improved version. Anyways, you're looking for a dual action brush with a nozzle 0.2-0.5mm, 0.3 or 0.4 is optimal, I think. Psi from the compressor can be adjusted so the one you get in that kit should be more than enough. I'd like to see the specifications on the one you posted, but I think it's probably a winner. I don't see any specs either, I'd look for another kit that tells you what you're getting :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/336861-airbrush-advice/#findComment-4825288 Share on other sites
