So I haven't played a game since early 6th ed.

 

I know things have changed since then.

 

That being said, what books (besides the main rulebook) do I need to buy? I play Blood Angels.

At the moment you would only need the Index Imperium One.

 

The rulebook only if you want more than the basic rules.

You might want to hold off actually buying the index as it will be replaced eventually or wait for the new SM Codex to come out shortly to see if you can pick it up cheap on eBay to hold you over until they do BA.

Most gaming stores will also have physical copies.  It's a nice thing to have around even if you buy the full book.  It does not have detachments, command points or missions but otherwise, it is all the rules you need.

To play Blood Angels you will need:

But as Skaorn has said, they are getting a new codex very soon.  Between  1 to 4 months depending on order of release.

If you want to play legally, you can get what you need for 20 US$.  Hard back books will cost more, of course, but that's not only what you need but ALL you will need until the full codices are released.
