That's what's got my soo annoyed, it looks soo dam cool having those storm bolters on my Sky Hunters (they even got a name they look that good) I'm town between keeping it modeled because of how cool it looks and pretending one of the 3 isn't there or just accepting it and convert some combi plasma seen as I feel this is how they will be effective now.

Overall, I think we only got slightly hit by the nerf bat. The nerfs seem more like balancing acts though. 3 of which stand out:

1) The Tempest Hammer of the Iron Priest now has the normal penalty to hit like all Thunderhammers. Not bad considering our priests hit on 2+ anyway.

2) Harald's axe which used to deal D3 mortal wounds if you roll to wound of 6, now only deals 1 mortal wound.

3) Wulfen curse cannot affect units in both Charging and Additional attack in the same turn. Meaning if a unit uses the Curse to reroll charge distance and succeeds in charging, they will not gain the +1 attack from being in the Fight Phase.

We did gain two buffs though:

1) Wolf Guard units and other characters became more versatile in terms of wargear, looks restrictive at first but in the end, Storm Shield with nearly any weapon including ranged weapons is back.

2) We gained access to the Company Ancient in our useable units list, so we've got the banner shenanigan where we can potentially have a model fire its melta gun/plasma gun before he dies, potentially killing his slayer. I actually like this addition to the Wolves as previously, we only had the Primaris Ancient who is too fat to fit into a Rhino. With the Company Ancient, we can stick him to ride around and buff our troops for morale as well.

All in all, nice FAQ. I 'm starting to believe that maybe there are some sane and considerate GW designers who also care about the game in general, not just selling models.

I've been getting the same impression. GW is now being run by people who know you make more money in the long run if you try to keep your customers happy.

Lets hope they keep this up and avoid or at least minimize the inevitable codex creep as some armies get updated later than the others. Though sometimes not their fault. Not even one year and already people are coming with ridiculous ways to break the game like Stormraven spam.

Indeed, and when GW realized it was a problem they FAQed it to make ground troops of some description mandatory so you can't just zoom around the battlefield in a flier, or hole up in a fortification.

Remember back when Black Templars and Dark Angels had different rules for their weapons compared to every other Space Marine Chapter because GW didn't want to devote a few minutes to printing up a PDF updating them? Good times. Good times.

1 thing though.

Simon clarified on facebook that if you are in range of the curse of the hunt when you charge you always count as having used it, wether you rerolled or not. Because the curse isn't really a choice fluff wise. You either get afflicted... Or you dont.

This means you need careful positioning and possibly change up who charges first, if you want to use kill.

It is worded clearly and precisely. It's a shame as previously we could gain the extra attack if we didn't need the reroll but this makes more sense based on lore.

I was always planning to use Ragnar for the reroll anyway as the extra attack was more valuable to me.

Positioning just becomes more important now.
