Played a tournament, didn't have 2000 pts of sisters painted, so I took some grey knights to fill the gap, since I have a decent amount of points of the hem painted, and they are my only other imperium army. (They were my first army, and I was given them to get me into warhammer. I didn't pick them haha)

They looked good on paper, but they were a really poor compliment to my sisters playstyle (turn one Celestine, Seraphim, dominions in Repressors Alpha Strike)

I'm thinking that Scions actually would be much better, since they'd bring tons of firepower in 10 man squads (6 hslasguns, and 4 plasma guns, rerolling ones) and would be way more resilient per squad than grey knight paladins (lost about 1 per lascannon/fusionblaster shot at them, and that was pretty much all that was taken)

I don't like the idea of Conscripts, since they won't be able to add any real firepower to my lists, and I'd have to buy and paint 50 of them, but recognize that they'd hold backfield objectives.

Anyone have any other thoughts on our best allies?

I really like Scions as allies - deepstriking plasma guns go well with vanguarding Dominions to pop transports then cook the passengers ;)

Knights can add some heavy armour which draws the enemies guns away from our tanks

Space Marines have such an array of options that you can always find something useful there. Vanguard Vets are one of my favourites, but when I get my Fire Raptor built I will definitely be taking that with my Sisters at least occasionally.

Scions are an excellent choice, as discussed already. I bring a thousand points of both to a 2000 point game, the results are generally very good. Scions have great loadouts for any engagement and the ability to deep strike gets them where they need to be, alongside being able to hold the line well enough. Orders are very good to have. Taurox Primes can make for superb anti-armor or anti-horde vehicles, a perfect compliment to whatever style of Sisters you wanna bring. If you don't want to bring BSS, bringing Scions is fantastic.

I am planning on trying out a more melee list with both repentia and arco-flagellants, basic sisters , and a dominion squad and exorcist .

I plan to ally them with Coteaz and a basic Inqui to get the 2 HQ for the formation, and the deny the witches that were oh so helpful last time . Greyfax is nice but Coteaz feels better.

I also plan a Knight Crusader with RFBC to have both the guns and the distraction carnifex. It can stomp and fall back/shoot in case it is overwhelmed so it's quite autonomous and it needs to be dealt with or it'll ruin the opponent's day.

We'll see how it fares. I think a ranged heavy hitter and a psyker synergize well with sisters, and we do have melee options now but they require not having them as prime targets so that they can be delivered, hence the dakka threat and the psyker buffs . I'm also toying with the inclusion of penitent engines in there.

Not sure If it'll be any good. But I did pick up a Knight Paladin to paint up as an ally for my Sisters. Mainly just as a central figure piece for the display cabinet.

Besides that I'm hoping to use my 3rd ed Inq stormtroopers as Scions.... If I can get over how much I hate the look of the taurox..

I'm putting together a Black Templars Crusader squad to accompany my "battle pope" (converted Inquisitor as Cardinal in TDA). I went this direction because reliable, hard hitting melee is what I feel we lack. I don't trust Repentia to get where they need to be, or Crusaders to do enough damage.

Haven't used them yet, still building them. If it's a fool's errand, at least they'll look cool...

The one thing I think we are weak on is dealing with psykers. I have used both Greyfax and Lord Karamazov in 8th and they work well, especially Greyfax. Taking her is very fluffy, as no doubt she is there to keep an eye on Celestine

Additionally read up on what abilities Ordo Hereticus Inquisition have when facing Chaos: it is SO useful! I have also taken Acolytes with plasma guns. :smile.:

I really love to add Custodes to my Sororitas army. It fits, at least in a basic way, because they are accompanying Saint Celestine on her missions. They are a block of close combat veterans that hit like a brick, but usually hold the lines quite well.

And I love their look!

Seriously thinking of putting a Super Heavy in to my list, I have 500 or so points I could do without in my list, and would be looking to put somewhere around there into it. If you had to choose, which AM super heavy (not a knight) would you take as the basis for a Cathedral Super Heavy tank?

Yeah, looking at the transport rules, you are paying points for something I wouldn't use in an otherwise all Sisters force. So I think I would be looking to field one that can run without transport for official games, but also use magnets to make the weapons swappable to have a Sororitas home brew version for less than official games.

Right now I am leaning toward the Banesword. Low initial cost, but also of a configuration that will allow for the cathedral superstructure to fit on the hull for whichever version I am fielding. Quake cannon hits like an Exorcist (though far nastier) twin heavy bolters on the front and I could put an Immolator turret (swappable heavy flamers or heavy bolters) on top of the sponsons with a las cannon that looks suspiciously like a multi-melta beneath it. Quake could swap out for a brace of Inferno cannons (4?) for less than official games.

Either version could be made to field the holy trinity, and in fun games I could up the points to be able to put some Sisters inside it.

Do you think a Custodes squad (without any transport) could be a nice choice?

I find a knight is a good distraction fex. Pricey but certainly does its job and can do a lot to damage your opponents morale.

Ive got an idea in my head for an army list to make most opponents fill their pants.

Involves Celestine and the usual seraphim and dominion up close and personals. Throw in an inquisitor or two for the sake of flavour and some scions (inquisitorial stormtroopers- been listening to Carrion Throne, tis good) and a knight.

Faith jump the girls and vamguard the doms. Deepstrike the storm troopers and advance the knight to be in opponents face turn 1. That much target saturation and big nasties in the lines and looming mere inches away sounds like a good panic inducer to me.
