Weapon Damage

Recommended Posts

Played my first game of 8th ed today (Templar vs Khorne).  The Emperor's Champion charged Skarbrand, EC attacked and caused 4 wounds.  Skarbrand saved 2 of them.  EC's black sword is damage - d6, roll a d6 and got 5.   So does that mean since Skarbrand failed to save 2 wounds he takes 10 wounds?  5 for each unsaved?

If he rolled two fives, yes. You roll damage for each unsaved wound individually.

It gets a bit more complicated when you have units of multi wound models, as multiple damage from a single wound can't 'spill over' so you have to roll them one at a time. Also effects that give you a save after damage has been dealt (formerly known as feel no pain) have to roll saves for each individual point of damage taken.

Wow.  So lets say EC fighting Blood thirster or any other gargantuan creature or character (one on one), makes all five hits, wounds on all five hits.  Then blood thirster or whatever unluckily fails all five saves, there's a possibility that the blood thirster could lose 30 wounds from one attack by rolling a 6 five times for each individual damage?

Yes, he has 4 attacks, BUT...Sigismund's Honour - Add 1 to the strength and attack characteristics when within 1" of an enemy character.  So 5 attacks.  Your right it is d3 not d6, don't know what I was looking at, but still some good dice rolling and some bad save rolling could really wrack up the wounds!
