The Hydra Wakes - update 07/11/17

Hi All,

 

I think this will be my 3rd attempt at alpha legion. when the Primaris marines came out i knew they had to be alpha legion. so ive decided to do them in a stripped down, no chaos and no imperial markings kind of way.

 

any way heres the first squad, let me know what you think.

Awesome stuff... I love the idea of the Alpha Legion intercepting Primaris technology and subverting it for their own use.

I think they look too clean.  The paint job is great, don't get me wrong, but I feel like they need grenades, equipment pouches, spare mags, that kind of thing.

As an Iron Warriors player, I never really looked at the XX Legion too much. But the idea makes sense, and I like it.

This sort of thing makes one wonder...

Looks great! More gear as already mentioned would make them look ready for espionage but they are already eye catching.

yeah you guys might be right. ill add some extra pouches and grenades etc to them and see how they look.

I'm so glad someone else had this idea, and then actually had the ability to go through with it!

 

Confirms my suspicions that it's a cool idea. Look cool too, but agree would like to see them "tooled" up a bit, knives, grenades etc

I, too, had this idea, so it's great to see it in action. Very nice work. Once you find that perfect recipe for XX Legion teal it's hard to ever stop...

 

I did a similar thing a while back with the Deathwatch kit to make Alpha Chosen. Now I think I will have to get that gravis captain after all...

right, next squad is done ( finished last week but forgot to post) no w with added kibble. i tried taking the pics in a different light hoping the they would come out a little better. quite interesting that under different light i get almost a completely different color.

thanks man. so far i have a mortis comtemptor, a mortis dread, a primaris techmarine, 2 luitenants, a gravis armored guy, those flying heavy bolter guys and some cultist/astropaths left to paint

At the moment im planing to, but ill kit them out for both chaos and loyalist. im going to be using tempestus scions with them which should be fun. 

 

The recipe is:

 

Basecoat leadbeltcher

2 x coela greenshade washes 

drybrush leadbeltcher

2 x guiliman (spits*) blue washes 

 

the first picture gives a better idea of what that looks like in natural light. but for some strange reason depending on the light the color changes as per the last 2 pics from a deep blue to a green. not sure why theres so much change but its appropriate

The secret ingredient is placed where you least expect it, before your own eyes. Alpha Legion trickery?

I person follow you example of using primaris marines instead of the normal chaos marine.

(Just because the normal marines did feel right to use a Alphas and the size.)

 

I must say I am impressed with the paint job and the creative use of available accessories.

Next up i have the lieutenants/aspiring champions

 

the one thing im really happy with is the red stripe on the bolter guys helmet. i think i will repeat that marking in other places in this force.

Love the freehand work! Legion emblem,, face tattoo, chain on the helm, and that red mark is definitely a new twist.
