Hi there,

So, I have a couple of issues:

- I hate the look of Ratlings models

- I hate the price of Elysian sniper teams

- However, snipers are a thing this edition and the Elysians in particular seem promising to me

So I came up with this home-made solution to field 2x Elysian teams, which ALSO allows me to detach the individual models in case I decide to field up to 12x hobbits/other snipers. They are short enough to double as hobbits, and credible enough to look like crouching humans (I hope). I was not consistent in putting a lasgun spotter and a sniper proper in each team, as that seems to be purely cosmetic. What do you think?

I must say I am not very enthusiast about the large bases. They look a bit too barren. Any idea/tutorial on how to make home-made alien-looking vegetation?

The best part: these costed me *nothing* at all except for a couple of hours and raw materials. I used: leftover sprues for the 'skeleton', a few bitz from my bitz box, and medical gauze for the ghillie suits; plaster, sand, static grass, and cardboard cut to 60mm round for the bases. Applying the gauze was actually easier and more fun than expected.

Any suggestion or your own version will be much appreciated.

They look pretty good! You can't even tell that they don't actually have bodies. ;)

Id be down with you using them as either.

I wouldn't worry about the barren bases, they dont look bad. Have you tried painting some small twigs some bright colours like purple and yellow. Auto paint would be great for that.

Thanks all! Following advice from the PCA forum, I was thinking to add some coloured plastic aquarium plants to the bases. they might look a bit better, although sticking them at this point might be a pain.

One word of advice: painting the ghillie suits after they dry up is simply impossible. If you want to do something like these, you need to pour the base colour (in my case, a medium brown) in the vinylic glue and water mix. Only drybrush works after they dry up.
