Bits/Miniatures to use for Talons of the Emperor

Hey guys,

 

I was checking out the Talons of the Emperor army list in 40k, and I really like the army fluff-wise, but the army list in 30k is just so much more interesting, and honestly the 40k version is pretty bare bones, even considering the Adeptus Custodes and Sisters of Silence units all together. Now, that being said a lot of the units don't have official miniatures yet, and it seems reasonably likely they won't get any for a while (apart from the recently released Kharon Acquisitor, the upgrade set for Prosecutors etc.). With that in mind, I'm curious about three(ish) things:

 

First of all, how are you guys representing the Hetaeron vs "normal" Custodes?

 

Secondly, has anyone had any success converting up a Jenetia Krole (and/or Oblivion Knight-Centura) or Excruciatus Cadre?

 

Thirdly, does anyone have any ideas regarding what models to use, Games Workshop or not - it's all the same to me, for the Cyber Jackals of the Pursuer Cadre? I realize that squad isn't generally considered very good, but I like the idea too much not to have one. Secondly, there's a pretty awesome painting of Sisters of Silence with long tabards and long-hafted axes from Visions, I was thinking that would be a pretty awesome source of inspiration for Oblivion Knights, but I'm not entirely sure where to get the axes, or for that matter the tabards. Any ideas?

 

I'll post the paintings I'm thinking of in case anyone here isn't familar with them. :)

I believe one of the older plastic marine sprues have an axe like that on them! As for the cyber jackals, I'd either (depending on funds and skill in conversion) either go for the FW games day cyber hound that comes with the enforcer, or if you are skilled greenstuff go with guild hounds from malifaux and greenstuff the cybernetics!

I did something similar with my inquisitor, but it is only slight modification. But I have second one and I am planning convert her more :). Nice conversion!

They have indeed done an enforcer model with a cyberhound, only issue is it was a games day exclusive model I believe, and as such is hard to find for a decent price

Thanks Ragnarr, the effort has certainly paid off. Posing as Jenetia in games she has currently reaped a bloody toll of two seperate sets of 1KSons Sehkmet, two 1KSons Preators and a whole chunk of Gal'vorbak.

 

Nothing like rolling 3 instant death attacks and then making four 4++ invulns when they strike back.

Thanks Ragnarr, the effort has certainly paid off. Posing as Jenetia in games she has currently reaped a bloody toll of two seperate sets of 1KSons Sehkmet, two 1KSons Preators and a whole chunk of Gal'vorbak.

 

Nothing like rolling 3 instant death attacks and then making four 4++ invulns when they strike back.

I like SoS. Now 50 ready to be assembled. Not too much. What I am really missing is flying Sisters :). But as a result of my conversion heresy I took Celestene and her two companions. Now I am working on conversion to Valkyries :). I am Space Wolves player - it is a diagnosis :)

Fabius Bile and the Eversor Assassin both have needle guns, but I can't seem to find either's guns as bits and it would be prohibitively expensive to buy four or five of either just for their weapons.

I use las pistol with modified barrel (lenghtened barrel by using the pinning brass) - this is for needle pistol. For assault needler I used hot shot lasgun (https://megabitzshop.com/bilder/produkte/gross/Warhammer-40k-Bitz-Militarum-Tempestus-Scions-Command-Squad-Hochenergie-Lasergewehr-C-Rucksack.jpg) from military tempestus scions sprue and modified barrel - I lenghtened the barrel by using the pinning brass. Maybe lasgun from cadian sprue would be better because it is smaller and for sisies would be better but I like hot shot lasgun more. I can send pictures during evening.
