Isolia
Hey there,Since I am experimenting with nurgly things for my new chaos force as well as some Bloodbowl shenanigans, I thought I'd share my trials in trying to get a purple skintone on plaguebearers, poxwalkers, rotters and the likes, rather than the greenish palette people usually go for. I don't want it to be too Slaaneshi though, so I tried a bunch of approaches. For these guys I like quick and easy methods so diluted Druchii Violet is my favorite jar these days With wash painting it usually works backwards in that we put down the brighter and paler colours first and work out way toward the darkest hue. So depending on the brighter first glazes/washes, the general colour "warmth" is different, and this is what I tested here and thought might be worth sharing. The paint is unfinished , but the skin is done. One can highlight at will but the purpose of wash painting is to avoid that phase on large blobs Some guts were coloured with base reds just to make the general colours pop a bit. All minis were primed with Corax White, and then some were first washed with thinned glazes or washes. I always thinned them 1:1 with Lahmian Medium for this test to be reproducible.I usually used 1 or 2 layers of the first colour , indicated under the mini , and then washed three times with 1:1 diluted Druchii Violet . For the one with both Bloodletter and Lamenters, I washed some parts with Bloodletter (wounds, eyes) and the rest with yellow as normal. The Druchii Violet was then applied more diluted (1:3 with Lahmian) on this one to try a more yellowish hue, since the skin basis is the same as the central mini. I will darken it more I think but this is the result of three coats of more diluted Druchii (to be consistent with the other minis' number of layers applied). So far my opinion is that glazes , being very bright and popping colours, are the best first coat to give a luminous, sickly violet skin. I will go with Lamenters yellow followed by Druchii violet for my forces (the center model).I tried Zandri dust as a basecoat but, as expected, it is way too dark .Here are the results, hope it gives some guidance for those who want to go this route (picture key under it if you can't read my handwriting :) ) : http://i66.tinypic.com/25teofr.jpg From left to right, in case it's a bit blurry on smaller screens, I list the layers/glazes before the 3 layers of 1:1 Druchii Violet / Lahmian Medium : Corax white only Corax white, then 2 layers of 1:1 Bloodletter / Lahmian Medium Corax white, then 2 layers of 1:1 Lamenters Yellow / Lahmian Medium Corax white, then 2 layers of 1:1 Lamneters Yellow / Lahmian Medium, except in the red parts where only 2 layers of Bloodletter were applied; Druchii Violet was thinned 1:3 with Lahmian before applying 3 coats Corax white, then 2 layers of Cassandora Yellow Edited July 27, 2017 by Isolia Zhiv, Olis and Doctor Perils 3 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/337214-quick-purple-daemons-poxwalkers-with-washes/ Share on other sites
