BrassClaw
If you are looking for a GW solution, I would use chaos possessed wings and cut them off the back pack. Uprising
You could just use crypt horrors wings like these http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-bnOpMLgBy3A/VM3bip7Gi7I/AAAAAAAABCI/hTBE96uTXic/s1600/Shrike2.jpg Valkyrion, culix, Reyner and 1 other 4 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/337220-warrior-wings/#findComment-4835335 Share on other sites
Evil Eye
Alternatively, if you want to keep the arms free whilst not compromising the 6-limb rule, use Plague Drone wings- they're the perfect size for Warriors and look very Tyranidesque. Valkyrion
Did those crypt horror wings fit nice and smoothly or was there greenstuffing involved? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/337220-warrior-wings/#findComment-4836728 Share on other sites
Uprising
Did those crypt horror wings fit nice and smoothly or was there greenstuffing involved? No green-stuff require. They are also cheap. https://www.games-workshop.com/en-US/Flesh-Eater-Courts-Crypt-Flayers Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/337220-warrior-wings/#findComment-4837010 Share on other sites
Toxichobbit
Pure speculation, but given how the Space Marine Codex has panned out I'd guess that Shrikes will become an Index only unit and not be supported in the Codex. That doesn't stop you using them as the Indices are still legal and they will still get all the rules buffs (and nerfs) that the Codex brings, but given the last two weeks of discussions on the Marine 'dex it matters to some people. If it doesn't matter to you then it's not a big deal if they are Index only. If it does matter, I'd hold off on making Shrikes until the Codex drops to see which way the spores blow. Hopefully it's among the 10 Codexes before Christmas. Also, if they do remain in the Codex they will 100% be getting a kit, so that might be something to consider as well. Xenith
The inclusion of a Grey Knight grand master in dread Knight in the grey knight Codex kind of goes against that grain though. We won't know what's in there ' it drops. I do like the crypt horror wing option though! Toxichobbit
No, it doesn't. The grain was already set in the Marine Codex. There's the Captain on Bike who has no model. What he does have though, is the ability to be made by simply combining two different Marine kits, a multi-part Captain and a Bike. The same with the Dreadknight, just combine it with some GK Terminator bling to make a fancier pilot. WH:TV even said that this is how the design studio thinks, they'll include it if it can be made from two kits from the same range. Most of the other bike characters, the Honour Guard options, the Dreadnought weapons etc that were removed from the Marine Codex followed this philosophy as well, with either requiring more complex conversions involving cutting up models, or Forge World parts. There are a few outliers. like the various Command Squad models that could easily be combined with Bikes to make the versions in the Index. In this case I'd guess that it's because, unlike the Captain and Dreadknight you'd need multiple of the same kit (bikes) to make them. Kinda flimsy reasoning but it seems to be where GW is drawing the line. Shrikes don't fall into that category. There is nothing in the Tyranid range that could be (reasonably) used to give Tyranid Warriors wings. That's why I said "hold off on making Shrikes until the Codex drops". Kastor Krieg
If Shrikes are not there, you are permitted to use the Index entry. That's a separate datasheet, not a Warrior wargear upgrade. Toxichobbit
If Shrikes are not there, you are permitted to use the Index entry. That's a separate datasheet, not a Warrior wargear upgrade. Yep. I said as much in my first post. It still bothers some people though, either because they feel that the Index is less valid (silly really, given what GW have said) or they hate the idea of carrying multiple books. So it's worth letting the OP know before he spends money on them. Also, there's the small matter that if they are in the new Codex they'll have a new kit, which is something else worth bearing in mind before spending money on them. Cryptix
It doesn't really matter to me either way, since all my books are digital. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/337220-warrior-wings/#findComment-4846754 Share on other sites
culix
Uprising, those Warrior poses are *AMAZING* :-O Fantastic work! I have always tried to make dynamic Warrior poses, but this is really great. How did you do the feet? They look almost like rending claw/arm bits? culix
Beautiful. Did you cut the claws off and glue them on to replace the hooves? It looks like you still have the legs and leg chitin armor. It looks like the tails are pretty long as well. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/337220-warrior-wings/#findComment-4853897 Share on other sites
