Our contemptors have a few options that the loyalists' don't. The hellflamers we can operate into the combat weapons are great. S5 ap-1 D2 on a flamer in this edition is pretty neat. Mount it on a chainclaw, which can do 4 damage per wound - and you'll get to take advantage of two important rules. We can regenerate wounds in melee, and our invuln save improves from 5+ to a 4+ when in combat. So that's giving me plenty of incentive to tooling my contemptors up for melee fighting.

Still, the melee weapons are expensive, and having two of them isn't much of a bonus anymore. So we should look at interesting sidearms. The butcher cannon stands out as pretty unique. It's pretty much a twin linked autocannon which has traded a very small bit of range for S8 and the ability to give negative leadership modifiers. That's pretty neat. S8 is a lot better than S7, since it wounds knights on a 4+, marines on 2+ and so on. The leadership modifiers can also be of use to the combat role we've been kitting this monster out for.

So that's how I'd kit out my Osiron Contemtors in this edition, and my reasoning. I deploy them by dreadclaws or Kharybdis, and have Magnus nearby to warp time them when necessary, and give them rerollable 1s on their 2+ to hit and 5++/4++ invuln saves. Expensive, but fun units that need a bit of support to truly shine. And some other big targets to distract some enemy lascannons.
