Hello everyone!

So with the coming of 8th I purchased the Dark Imperium starter set for the rule book and Primaris Marines. However, I am now noticing that in my area there seems to be a distinct lack of Non-Imperial armies being played.

And since I kept the DG models that came in the boxed set I thought I might be able to fix that.

But here is my problem.... I can't seem to come up with a color scheme. I have been wracking my brain trying to come up with something that is not the current primary studio scheme.

And so, I come to you fine folks of the CSM boards... any nifty ideas you wouldn't mind sharing?

As for theme, I am a little stuck on that one. I have been mulling it over for parts of the day and thought that a fleet based renegade warband might be fun. Maybe in addition to physical diseases, they all also suffer from severe mental illness, and thus they believe that they are helping the imperium by making hordes of zombies.

But that is about as far as I got. I really hadn't thought much about starting a chaos force until I noticed that almost every match up I have had since 8th dropped has been some hot SM v SM action. And since I already owned a small but cohesive DG force via the Dark Imperium box I might be able to help mix things up a bit.

And the purple sounds pretty interesting, as does that yellow.....

I'm doing a cross between Pallid Hand,Pox Mortis and Putrid Choir :

Undercoat White

Screaming skull base

Trims and fringes with bronze

General wash with diluted (3:2 with lahmian) Drakenhof nightshade, twice in the darker areas and on bronzes

Glazes with quite dilute Nihilak Oxide

It shall give a sickly pale oxidized blue over a kind of warm beige base that goes well with the bronze and gives a less shiny Putrid Choir theme . The idea is to have a 30k-ish scheme that has not been taken care of for ten millennia and the oxidized bronze has seeped onto the whole armor. I'll try and get some pics soon .

The theme will be more Putrid Choiry, with a lot of bells and a blightbringer or two to keep the poxwalkers marching.

Here is also some tests I made with purple plaguebearers using washes :

I'm sure it can be used for Marines too, I'll give it a try if i have some time next week :)

Hmm. Maybe have them be a bunch of crazy resurrectionists who believe that the only way of bringing final, eternal peace to the galaxy is by uniting Nurgle and the Emperor. Maybe they are think slaughtering and then raising the dead is actually a means of freeing the downtrodden Imperial citizenry... all as they slowly work their way toward Segmentum Solar in order to bring the blessing of unlife to the Corpse God.

Or not, whatever. Zombies are fun though, and I do love Papa Nurgle.

If you like having both yellow and purple, maybe use them both? They are complimentary. Purple oxygen-starved guts and corroded yellowing armor.

Edit: Does your proto-vectorium have a name, Llama?

Yellow is a good option often associated with an unhealthy pallor (yay liver failure!) and corruption. Not a glowing Imperial Fist yellow, but a treacly yellow, the color of crusty gound.

Alternatively, go for an even more intense yellow and paint yourself some hazmat-esque radioactive Plague Marines.

I went with a Pallid Hand/Weeping Legion scheme for my Vectorium. I finally figured out what to do with the bases so will have more soon. So, I may be biased but I'm liking your scheme so far.https://www.flickr.com/gp/156756495@N04/7554rM Edited by Thrall_Love

Mine are rusty brown. The flesh will eventually be a drowned-white kind of colour but the armour is basically done.

In terms of background I stumbled upon mention of a renegade warband called Dark Tusks which wore corroded power armour and just went with that. I haven't read the novel they feature in though so I could be way off, but they have a cool name and match my colour scheme!

I'm a big fan of bone colored armour on Death Guard (using it myself), but you need a contrast color of some sort. Something to pop out on all the white. The tentacles do it alright, but the armour itself needs something. If you look at mine, I have black (actually a black built up to a dark grey - blue) to contrast the white of the armour, with red as a spot color in select places.

The Iron Warrior Plague Marines in the 4 Generals in last months White Dwarf looked pretty nice as well.

Since he wanted to stay true to the Iron Warrior color scheme but didn't think it'd fit Plague Marines he instead went for a grey-ish color scheme for them.

I won't be able to take any pics for a good 10h since I just arrived at work but maybe someone else can. My mobile cam isn't good at all anyway.
